Global Beast Mastery: Only I Can See the Hints

Chapter 562: Charles Takes Action

Chapter 562: Charles Takes Action

Zachary and Luma exchanged glances. The situation was incredibly dangerous. Even if they were to give up on the competition, they would still need to wait for a while.

Facing a Giant Lion-Tiger Beast and several Shadow Warwolves, waiting for rescue was undoubtedly fatal. If things went as expected, by the time the rescuers arrived, they might already have been digested as food in the stomachs of these ferocious beasts.

There was no way around it; this was the peril of the red zone. No one could predict what accidents might occur. They had all been very cautious—avoiding the roaming ferocious beasts as much as possible and even setting traps around their resting place as warnings.

No one had expected such bad luck: they were now surrounded by a Giant Lion-Tiger Beast and Shadow Warwolves. In this situation, there was no chance of fighting back. If a battle broke out, they would surely be overwhelmed and killed by the beasts.

The only thing they could do was try to get two of them to draw the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast and the Shadow Warwolves' attention, allowing the others to escape the dangerous area quickly.

In the moonlight, Zachary could clearly see the sharp teeth of the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast glistening coldly, along with the drool constantly dripping from its mouth.

At this moment, Charles was likely still locked in a stalemate with Miles Carter and Skylar, and there was no chance of him arriving to help. It was entirely up to them.

A wave of deadly danger filled Zachary's heart. The hairs on his neck stood up, and he felt a sharp sensation on his exposed skin. Yet, in the midst of this, Zachary's mind remained unnervingly calm. Instead of fear or retreat, a strange thought crossed his mind: "If I survive this, Charles should praise me, right?"

Zachary couldn't help but find the thought amusing.

The odds of survival were incredibly slim, and yet, in such a critical moment, his mind was thinking about getting praised by Charles.

He gripped his weapon tightly. Just as he and Luma were about to take action, ready to throw everything into the fight, they suddenly heard Finn's voice: "Wait, don't move. They seem to be at a standoff!"

Everyone quickly observed the situation. The Giant Lion-Tiger Beast was crouching low to the ground, while the Shadow Warwolves were growling deeply from their throats, filled with menace.

Finn relaxed his breathing as much as possible, and at that moment, he began to wonder: If Charles were in this situation, what would he do?

Before he could come up with a plan, Zachary saw the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast and the Shadow Warwolves slowly closing in on them.

It was too late. Zachary gritted his teeth and charged forward, swinging his weapon, desperately trying to attract the attention of the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast and the Shadow Warwolves.

Luma quickly followed suit, mirroring his actions.

In an instant, the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast and several Shadow Warwolves lunged at them. Zachary could see the sharp claws of the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast descending toward his head, and in a moment of despair, he closed his eyes.

At that moment, a piercing scream rang out, followed by a violent explosion.

The massive body of the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast was sent flying sideways as if it had been struck by a high-speed car.

The explosion's intense heat caused a wound to appear on the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast's body, and the fur around the wound was singed, releasing a foul smell.

Zachary opened his eyes in shock, and he quickly turned his head to see a figure slowly emerging not far away—holding a longbow. It was Charles!

"Charles, what are you doing here?" Zachary asked in a daze.

Although Zachary didn't understand why Charles had appeared at this moment, he knew there was no time to be distracted.

He immediately sprang into action, narrowly dodging a Shadow Warwolf's bite, and made his way back to Luna and Finn.

Seeing what had just happened, Luma realized that there was still hope. He didn't have to risk his life anymore, but his situation wasn't great either, as several Shadow Warwolves had completely surrounded him.

From a distance, Charles could clearly see the danger Zachary, Luma, and the others were facing. Without hesitation, he shot another arrow, successfully hitting one of the Shadow Warwolves and forcing the remaining ones to retreat, giving Luma a chance to escape.

These ferocious beasts, of course, weren't stupid. They wouldn't just stand by and let Charles attack them from afar.

Three of the Shadow Warwolves immediately split from the others, howling as they charged toward Charles.

Charles summoned Mia, then leaped high into the air.

Mia, in perfect sync, extended her claws and grabbed Charles' shoulder, allowing him to stay suspended briefly in midair.

The fastest of the Shadow Warwolves saw this and immediately stopped running. It opened its mouth wide, and a ball of black energy began to form in its mouth.

Charles would never just stand idly by while the enemy prepared to attack.

He shot an arrow!

The arrow accurately struck the Shadow Warwolf's mouth, causing the dark energy it had just gathered to explode instantly.

Boom!

It sounded like a large bomb exploding. A small mushroom cloud rose from the ground, followed by a violent shockwave that kicked up countless amounts of dust.

When the surrounding area finally settled, the place where the Shadow Warwolf had been was now a massive crater.

Seeing the death of their companion, the remaining Shadow Warwolves didn't hesitate at all. They immediately turned and fled.

Charles didn't bother with the fleeing Shadow Warwolves. He urged Mia to speed up and moved toward Luna and the others.

At this point, Luna, Finn, Zachary, and Luma were still fighting the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast, which had been wounded by Charles' arrow earlier.

Three minutes later, the massive body of the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast crashed to the ground, lifeless.

Only then did Luna and the others finally breathe a sigh of relief and glance toward Charles.

Zachary immediately ran to Charles' side, his voice full of excitement. "Charles, the moment I saw you just now, I thought I was dreaming! How did you manage to come back at this time?"

Finn looked at Zachary for a moment before turning toward Charles. "Charles, did something happen to Miles Carter and Skylar? You don't look like you're being chased by them."

Charles rubbed his nose. He wasn't being chased. If it weren't for the fact that Miles Carter and Skylar's teammates had shown up, able to conceal their presence and erase any traces, those two would have been worn down by him.

Charles briefly explained what had happened on his side, and Zachary, Luma, and Finn's mouths fell open in disbelief.

Luma said in astonishment, "Charles, you're telling me... you were chasing Miles Carter and Skylar on your own? And even if other talented Beast Masters from Kingston showed up, you were fine and even killed one?"

Without a second thought, Zachary gave Charles a thumbs up and said, "Charles, you're the best!"

Luna didn't say anything, but her gaze remained fixed on Charles. Shock was evident in her beautiful eyes. She instinctively walked over to him, checking to see if he was injured.

But after examining him for a while, she found no signs of injury. Charles' clothes were still spotless, with no signs of damage anywhere.

How should she describe this feeling? Luna looked down at her own clothes, then back at Charles. She suddenly felt like Charles hadn't come to participate in a battle; he had come for a leisurely trip instead!

The group continued talking for a while, but then Finn suddenly remembered something. He quickly walked over to the Giant Lion-Tiger Beast's carcass and began to process it. From the beast's body, he retrieved a fist-sized Blood-red Jade.

Luma also walked over to the corpse of the Shadow Warwolf that Charles had killed earlier. Unfortunately, he didn't find any Blood-red Jade, as the body of the Shadow Warwolf had been reduced to fragments.

The Blood-red Jade wasn't particularly strong alchemical material, and it had long since shattered along with the Shadow Warwolf's remains.

As night deepened, the group moved to a new resting spot, becoming even more cautious and careful.

Early the next morning, as the sun had barely risen, Charles began leading Luna and the others toward the central canyon area, where the ferocious beasts were more abundant, and hunting would be easier.

There were no unexpected events along the way; everything was unusually calm.

By the afternoon, the environment around them began to change. The trees grew increasingly sparse, and in the distance, a massive canyon appeared.

Meanwhile, around seventy to eighty kilometers away from the central canyon area, Miles Carter looked down at the footprints on the ground, and a look of excitement spread across his face. He immediately recognized the footprints—these were left by a Bloodthirsty Antelope!

Bloodthirsty Antelopes typically traveled in groups, led by a Bloodthirsty Antelope Leader, roaming around to hunt. Their prey wasn't just wild grass or leaves; it was other ferocious beasts!

In the entire red zone, Bloodthirsty Antelopes stood at the top of the food chain!

Such a presence would soon fall into his plan, locking onto Charles and his group, and making them experience the taste of death.

Miles Carter's voice slowly rang out: "This time, you're really going to die, Charles!"
