Chapter 256: 66-7-66-8
Chapter 256: 66-7-66-8
Goal: 5%
'So like 1 percent every minute 30 seconds at Grade-6…that's not terrible, but not great either,' Calmly ignoring the scorching pain running its course through his entire body, Aoni mused.
'Unfortunately, that rate will spike with the increase of power; grade seven should be about 3 minutes per percentage point, and eight will probably end up being around 10 minutes.' Thinking back to how this option was listed as time-consuming, he couldn't help but feel a bit helpless.
As for the Goal, well, there were actually a few Aoni had in mind, but one thing was for certain: it wasn't the destruction of the formation, not yet, at least.
Allowing his eyes to roam around the formation, from the moment he obtained his new passive, he'd been able to see a faint shimmer or ripple on the surface of the door, and it was only through the knowledge imprinted on his brain that Aoni was able to make sense of this phenomenon.
Radiating from the millions of inscriptions and runes coating the door were faint shimmers of blue, purple and pink light, each one corresponding with the Grade of Energia used to inscribe them.
Honestly, it was kind of like looking at a massive wall-shaped Christmas tree, tiny twinkling lights arranged in painstakingly methodical order,
'66-7-66-8-66-7-66-8-66-7-66-8, wait a second, isn't this almost like a binary code, just instead of ones and zeros its colors…'
It wouldn't be a false statement; after all, it has already been explained how Energia is programmable. Furthermore, each one of the digits added into this formation was completed by more than one individual
'So it would be safe to assume that each rune represents a person?' Aoni asked while watching the Goal ticker slowly creep upward.
Not necessarily. In the case of the Grade-6 Energia present in the targeted Formation Chain, that may be true; however, when it comes to the Grade-7 and Grade-8 inscriptions, they were completed by a collective of 5-10 individuals
'Mm…I understand,'

As Aoni conversed with his Attribute Notice, nearly 20 minutes had transpired since he began the arduous task of destroying the Seal, and during that time, Anthony had come out of his meditative state with a stunned expression covering his face.
"I…I've gotten stronger…" He whispered while clenching and unclenching his fists.
"Not by much, but still, it's noticeable…is this how Aoni has been doing it this whole time? What was that thing? Where did it come from? Is he able to replicate this process?" Dozens of questions spilled out of Anthony's lips, making him seem like a mumbling lunatic and drawing the attention of Glacia, who, after administering first aid to him, diverted her full attention back to Aoni…until he started mumbling, that is.
"gaaaaooo," holding her paw to her mouth in a shushing gesture, the floof bumped her shoulder against Ant, startling him out of his rantings and making him remember where he was at the moment.
"Shit, sorry Glacia, wait…what the hell is he, oh no…AONI!" Seeing a Blue, flameish-aura practically burning his Baby brother alive, Anthony jumped to his feet and was about to rush forward and pull him to safety when Aoni's voice entered Glacia's head.
{'Glacia stop him,'}
"Grrrrrr, GAOOO!"
*CHOMP*
"AH, What the Hell, GLACIA!" Feeling a searing pain coming from his calf, Anthony was shaken to his core upon noticing that not only had Glacia bit down on his leg, but she seemed strong enough to hold him in place.
"Gaoaoaoaoao," she grumbled while tugging Ant backward and taking care to ensure her teeth didn't puncture the young man's flesh too deeply as to cause a serious injury.
"At-at-at chill chill,"
{'Good girl,'} Hearing the commotion going on behind him, a smirk spread across Aoni's lips as he watched the number tick up to 10% with anticipation.
Enough Grade-6 Energia has been Siphoned; would the Host like to designate a nourishment
'Breakthrough my Pain Resistance passive from E-Rank to D-Rank.'
Using Siphoned Grade-Six Energia to Break Passive: Pain Resistance through the Natural Limits
Passive: Pain Resistance has shattered naturally imposed regulation, allowing for further growth into the D-Rank
100 pp Earned
'Okay, it's time for the moment of truth…ha…haha….hahaha! FUCK YES!' With trembling shoulders, Aoni's laughter nearly left his internal monologue, and all because of a certain little add-on to his TD.
Pain Resistance: E+ (?)
'ARROOOWW! GAO GAO! ADD POINTS!'
Increasing the Rank of Passive: Pain Resistance from E+ to D-
Progress Points Have Been Deducted
100 pp Earned
Increasing the Rank of Passive: Pain Resistance from D- to D
Progress Points Have Been Deducted
200 pp Earned
Increasing the Rank of Passive: Pain Resistance from D to D+
Progress Points Have Been Deducted
300 pp Earned
Although the use of his Passive wouldn't directly upgrade other parts of his TD, it did give Aoni back his upgrade arrow, which was exactly what he hoped would happen, and after recklessly burning through enough progress points to make his heart shatter, he was overcome with excitement.
Mainly due to the fact that with the newly upgraded D+ in Pain Resistance, the backlash caused by Siphoning off Grade-6 Energia lessened from a searing, around screaming bloody murder pain to a far more bearable I just broke a bone pain.
Basically, he wasn't injecting himself with hot lava any longer, and instead, hot salt water. Did it still hurt? Sure, but it was definitely more comfortable than before.
---
Calming down from his Glacia-esk moment, Aoni exhaled loudly and pulled his hands away from the Stone Door, effectively cutting off his connection with the formation and causing the burning aura surrounding his body to fade into nothing.
Unfortunately, right as Aoni was about to turn around and check on his brother, a fist connected with his right cheek, taking the lad off his feet and spinning him through the air until he collided with the wall on the far side of the chamber.
THWAP BOOM BANG
"AONI! YOU STUPID, RECKELESS, UNTHINKING, MORONIC PIECE OF SHIT! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO!"
"GAOO!"
{'BRODDER WENT FWOOSH'} Sitting on the stairs and watching what just happened in real time, Glacia, of course, didn't bother jumping to aid her lord and simply watched from the sidelines; after all, she had gotten a bunch of new tasty snacks from Anthony so he couldn't be a bad guy…this was probably just…
*crunch crunch munch*
{'Didapin, yep-yep Brodder be bads.'}
