Chapter 12 - 12 12 Forsythia Detox Pill

?Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Forsythia Detox Pill Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Forsythia Detox Pill Lu Jingyan slept deeply the rest of the night without dreaming again, and if the alarm hadn’t gone off, she probably would’ve slept straight through to noon.

She lay flat on her bed, fuming without reason for a moment before sluggishly rubbing her eyes and climbing out of bed.

As she rolled out of bed, there was a loud thud.

It was her phone that had fallen to the floor.

She stared blankly for a few seconds before remembering that she had fallen asleep holding her phone against her chest last night.

The thick carpet on the floor meant her phone was undamaged.

Lu Jingyan bent over to pick up the phone and tossed it carelessly onto the bed before yawning her way into the bathroom. After freshening up, she picked out some clothes at random, got dressed, and headed downstairs.

Aunt Sun had already prepared breakfast, and she immediately served it to Lu Jingyan upon seeing her come downstairs.

The breakfast was unusually lavish that day, complete with millet porridge and pickles, soy milk and dough sticks, sandwiches and bacon, and a plate of assorted fruits.

Lu Jingyan stirred the soy milk Aunt Sun had poured and was just about to ask what the occasion was that warranted such a grand East-meets-West breakfast spread when she heard footsteps.

Turning her head, she saw Lu Hongcheng, a rare sight at home.

No wonder Aunt Sun had gone all out with breakfast—it was because the master of the house had returned.

Lu Jingyan called out, “Uncle.”

Lu Hongcheng grunted an acknowledgement and took his seat at the head of the table. “Did you come back in the middle of the night?”

Lu Jingyan replied with a simple, “Yeah.”

Lu Hongcheng frowned noticeably, clearly not satisfied with her private life. “Don’t ignore what I told you last time. The boyfriend I’m introducing to you will be returning to the country next month. Clean up any messy relationships you have outside.”

“Also, the daughter of my business partner dreams of becoming a singer. Find a good time to push her into a few hot searches.”

Lu Jingyan held her spoon silently for a moment before giving a soft acknowledgment.

There was still more than half a bowl of soy milk left, and the sandwich in her hand had only been bitten twice.

But she suddenly had no appetite.

Lu Jingyan struggled to swallow the food in her mouth, and once she saw Lu Hongcheng had finished saying what he needed to, she grabbed a paper napkin, wiped the corner of her mouth, greeted Lu Hongcheng, and went back upstairs.

After quickly applying her makeup, Lu Jingyan left home.

It was only once she reached the garage that she remembered she had left her car in an underground parking lot at the restaurant the previous night to hitch a ride with Sheng Xian.

With a row of cars in the garage, she didn’t feel like going back for the car keys, so she simply walked out of the complex and hailed a cab to the office.

Lu Jingyan’s assistant was a slightly chubby girl who had just graduated with her master’s degree, but she had been working with Lu Jingyan since her junior year of college.

The assistant found out she was pregnant last month and needed to rest due to her frail condition, so she handed in her resignation at the beginning of the month.

As the assistant reported to her, Lu Jingyan felt even more upset at the thought of having to interview a new assistant, on top of already being in a foul mood from encountering Lu Hongcheng first thing in the morning.

She couldn’t reasonably take out her negative energy on others, so Lu Jingyan suppressed her restlessness. Between listening to the assistant’s endless chatter, she checked her phone.

The moment she opened WeChat, she saw Sheng Xian.

She realized that in addition to being handsome, this perfect trash of a man, Sheng Xian, also seemed to have the effect of calming her anger.

It was strange. They hadn’t exchanged a single word, but just looking at his profile picture made her feel like she could breathe easier.

Tch, this scumbag who used her birthday for his Wi-Fi password and who flirted without taking responsibility, also had the qualities of a Forsythia Detox Pill.

Thinking this, Lu Jingyan quickly sent a message: “Good morning, Forsythia Detox Pill.”

Before she could react and think it through, wanting to unsend it, she saw at the top of the screen: “The other person is typing…”

She waited and waited until that line changed to Sheng Xian’s name, but no new message entered her phone.

He was probably planning to give her the cold shoulder again.

Lu Jingyan snorted, unable to help muttering under her breath, “Pretentious.”

“Falsely modest.”

“Putting on airs.”

After the assistant finished reporting and noticed her mumbling, she asked, “President Lu, what did you say?”

Lu Jingyan shook her head, “Nothing.”

As the assistant readied to leave, Lu Jingyan called her back, “Oh, right.” She tore off a piece of paper, scribbled Sheng Xian’s name and his place of work, “Get me his class schedule, the sooner the better.”

After the assistant left, Lu Jingyan tapped on the desk, recalling a cheesy old joke that was popular online.

A domineering CEO sets his sights on a woman, usually starting with, “In three minutes, I want all her information.”

She was a CEO too, right? She didn’t need all his information; just a class schedule seemed like a small request. And yet, it hadn’t been procured in three minutes.

Just as Lu Jingyan was reflecting on whether she was failing as a CEO, the assistant’s WeChat message arrived.

She had obtained the class schedule.

Lu Jingyan glanced at the date on her phone and found it quite coincidental—the Professor Sheng had a class this very morning.
