Chapter 13 - 13 13 Do you want to die You

?Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Do you want to die? You? Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Do you want to die? You? Lu Jingyan’s mind uncontrollably conjured the desire to have lunch with him.

At first, this thought flashed by, but for some reason, it grew stronger and stronger, like a spark in a prairie fire, consuming her entire brain.

Pursuing a man requires initiative, but being too forward isn’t good either.

Always rushing to find him doesn’t seem quite right.

It’s beneath her dignity.

She should, as she did with other jerks in the past, treat him as nothing, flirt when she’s free, and ignore him when she’s busy.

While Lu Jingyan told herself not to give Sheng Xian too much face, she couldn’t help but want to find him.

She struggled with the decision a thousand times in her heart.

Eventually, she decided to give Sheng Xian some face.

After all, he was handsome.

He remembered her birthday and even set it as his hot password; that must mean he has a crush on her.

Having a crush is hard, and she should give him some sugar.

Last night, when her negative energy peaked, he was the one who healed her. As reciprocity, she should make him happy today.

She really is a grateful, kind, and considerate beautiful girl.

Lu Jingyan unabashedly praised herself fiercely, and in the midst of being moved to tears by her own words, she skipped work.

Lu Jingyan first went to retrieve her car from where they dined last night; it had been parked all night, and the parking fee was a whopping one hundred and eighty yuan.

As Lu Jingyan scanned the QR code to pay with WeChat, she couldn’t help but sigh again: burning money.

The school Sheng Xian attended was the same university Lu Jingyan had gone to.

There hadn’t been much change to the school, and even though it had been years since she last entered, she easily found Sheng Xian’s classroom.

Just as class was dismissed, a flood of students poured out. Lu Jingyan walked against the crowd toward the classroom and from a good distance, she spotted Sheng Xian leaving the classroom.

She quickened her pace to catch up. Someone called Sheng Xian, and he handed his computer and books to a male teaching assistant beside him, then descended the stairs ahead.

Lu Jingyan followed and discovered that Sheng Xian headed toward the parking lot.

There were many cars in the parking lot, but not many people.

As soon as Sheng Xian entered the lot, a car door opened, and Bo Mu got out.

The two didn’t go far and just stood in an open area next to the parking lot.

Lu Jingyan really wasn’t trying to eavesdrop on their conversation; it was just that her hiding spot was right behind a pillar next to them.

As soon as Bo Mu saw Sheng Xian, she cut to the chase and voiced the main point, “Why did you assign my contract to another lawyer?”

Sheng Xian replied, “Attorney Cheng is very professional in this area. He has handled many similar contracts, which makes him more suitable for you than me.”

“Is that the only reason?” Bo Mu didn’t quite buy the explanation Sheng Xian gave.

Sheng Xian showed no intention of answering her question.

After a pause, Bo Mu continued, “I saw you taking her home last night.”

“I have other things to do. I’ll be going now,” Sheng Xian said, apparently not too keen on discussing his private matters and left quite abruptly.

Bo Mu called out to him in a hurry, “I know Lu Jingyan very well; she won’t like you. She sees you as an object, like a commodity in a shopping mall—something she wants if she takes a fancy to it, without caring about your feelings. Once she has it, she loses interest.”

Sheng Xian paused in his steps.

“In her eyes, you’re no different from the men she’s been with before, just another toy,” Bo Mu added.

After a brief pause, Sheng Xian walked away.

It wasn’t until Sheng Xian had left the parking lot that Lu Jingyan came around the pillar.

She didn’t make a sound, just lazily leaned against the pillar and fished a cigarette out of her bag.

Bo Mu turned around, intending to get back in her car, but then she saw Lu Jingyan standing beside her and was taken aback.

With a cigarette between her lips, Lu Jingyan indifferently lit it up, eyes half-lowered.

She leisurely drew on the cigarette, looked up at Bo Mu with a complex expression, and smiled, “I didn’t expect that after all these years, you still enjoy speaking ill of others behind their backs.”

Bo Mu pursed her lips, her expression slightly stiff.

Lu Jingyan, with two fingers holding the cigarette near her ear, casually blew a smoke ring, “When will you be as straightforward as me? If you want to curse someone, do it to their face, like how I really feel like cursing you right now…”

Lu Jingyan straightforwardly hurled a string of curses at Bo Mu: “Bitch, green tea bitch, gossip, shameless.”

Bo Mu’s face darkened even more.

Lu Jingyan flicked the cigarette ash, “Do you like him?”

Caught off guard by the direct question, Bo Mu’s gaze stiffened for a moment.

Lu Jingyan stubbed out her cigarette, “From now on, stop liking him; he’s mine.”

“Just because you’ve set your sights on him, he’s yours?” Bo Mu challenged.

Lu Jingyan confirmed with an entitled nod, “Yeah, that’s right. What I set my eyes on is mine.”

“Mine, do you know what that means? Don’t snatch, don’t touch, don’t meddle, got it?”

Lu Jingyan, relaxed as if boneless, leaned against the pillar and sized Bo Mu up from head to toe, “For your own good, you won’t win against me.”

“Yesterday, he didn’t just take me home; I gave him a peck and a little heart. He was messaging me at three in the morning.”

“…”

Bo Mu, looking at Lu Jingyan’s contemptuous face, clenched her fist, “Lu Jingyan, stop showing off in front of me. Do you really think you’re that desirable? Those men are only interested in your face and decent family background.”

“You don’t seriously believe someone would genuinely like you, do you?”

“You seem to have forgotten that when we were at school, nobody actually liked you.”

“Everyone disliked you, no one wanted to be your friend. Even if you tried to please them, they would ignore you.”

“It wasn’t just them, it was also your dad, your mom, your uncle; not a single person liked you, including Sheng Xian—he won’t…”

Lu Jingyan’s expression cooled, and before Bo Mu could finish her sentence, she grabbed Bo Mu’s hair and yanked her head up, “Looking to die, are you?”
