Chapter 21 - 21 21 Sheng Xians Admiration

?Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Sheng Xian’s Admiration Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Sheng Xian’s Admiration “Medicine.” Aunt Sun took out a bag of medicine, “It was delivered this afternoon. Wasn’t it what you ordered?”

Lu Jingyan was caught off guard by the question.

It took her a few seconds to react, recalling what Sheng Xian had said in the car about “having bought it.”

She snatched the entire bag of medicine from Aunt Sun’s hands, didn’t even change her shoes, turned around, pushed open the door, and ran outside.

“Eh?” Aunt Sun hadn’t even had time to say anything when Lu Jingyan had already run far away.

The entrance was empty. Lu Jingyan looked around, but saw no sign of Sheng Xian’s car.

Aunt Sun followed her out, “Miss Lu, what are you looking for?”

“Nothing.” Lu Jingyan withdrew her gaze and walked slowly back inside with the bag of medicine.

“Miss Lu, have you been drinking?” Aunt Sun smelled the alcohol on her, “Don’t take medicine after drinking. If you feel very uncomfortable tonight, remember to call me, and I will make you some honey water later.”

Lu Jingyan didn’t quite catch what Aunt Sun said, murmured a noncommittal “hmm,” and headed upstairs with a bag in one hand and the medicine in the other.

Once back in her bedroom, Lu Jingyan sat on the bed, poured out all the medicine from the bag, took a photo with her phone, and sent it to Sheng Xian, “Did you buy this?”

She sat cross-legged on the bed, staring at the medication boxes spread all over her bed for a long time, until Aunt Sun brought the honey water, and her phone remained quiet.

After Aunt Sun left and her phone vibrated once, she dove onto the bed to grab it, only to see a message from Song Xian, “Baby, how are you?”

Lu Jingyan responded listlessly, “I’m okay.”

After chatting sporadically with Song Xian—who seemed to have drunk too much and hadn’t replied to her messages—Lu Jingyan exited the chat, lay on the bed, propped her chin with one hand and fiddled with the medication boxes in the other.

She didn’t need to ask; she was sure that Sheng Xian had bought the medicine for her.

The medicine had been delivered in the afternoon, and apart from Sheng Xian, no one else knew she was sick.

No wonder Chen Kai said someone had been sent with medicine, but they had already declined, as the medicine had been sent to her house early on!

Not only had the medicine been delivered, but they had also brought her home!

Thinking back to the harsh words she had said to Sheng Xian before getting out of the car, Lu Jingyan suddenly felt a twinge of guilt.

Professor Sheng hadn’t replied to her messages for so long, maybe he was upset.

Should she try to appease him?

Lu Jingyan pushed over the stack of medicine boxes and then piled them up again, repeating the action several times before sighing and picking up her phone.

She had misunderstood him, and it was her fault to begin with.

Although Miss Lu, even when she was wrong, could still be right, given that he had bought medicine for her, she would grudgingly lower her head a bit.

Thinking this, Lu Jingyan began typing, “Brother, I didn’t know you had bought the medicine and sent it home, I was too superficial.”

Lu Jingyan, “Brother, it’s that time of the month, and I’m not very stable, it happens to every girl.”

Lu Jingyan, “I was wrong.gif”
Lu Jingyan, “Sort me out.gif”
“…”

Miss Lu was never a patient person. After lowering herself to appease him, seeing that Sheng Xian still hadn’t replied, she completely lost her temper and furiously unlocked her phone to send a barrage of texts.

“What’s the big deal being a professor? Can a professor just ignore people like that?”

Lu Jingyan muttered angrily as she typed, her fury almost piercing through the phone screen.

Just as she was about to hit send, her phone vibrated.

A new message popped up on the screen.

Lu Jingyan hadn’t even had a chance to see Sheng Xian’s message before she hurriedly pressed undo.

As she admired her quick reaction, another message came in.

Sheng Xian, “?”

While looking at his message, Lu Jingyan also checked the previous one he sent.

Sheng Xian, “Hmm.”

Though she had already known that he was the one who bought the medicine, seeing his message still inexplicably delighted Lu Jingyan, who held her phone with a beaming smile.

It took her a while to realize that Sheng Xian was still waiting for her to explain what she had just undone.

Lu Jingyan wasn’t foolish, of course, she wouldn’t tell him the truth, “I sent the wrong message.”

Without waiting for Sheng Xian’s reply, Lu Jingyan changed the subject, “Brother, have you gotten home?”

Sheng Xian seemed rather free tonight, “Hmm.”

Lu Jingyan, “Then, brother, you should rest early.”

Lu Jingyan, “And, thank you for the medicine, brother.”

Knowing Sheng Xian, Lu Jingyan figured that getting three responses from him tonight was already the limit.

Not expecting a fourth message, Lu Jingyan put down her phone planning to take a bath, and then the phone rang.

Sheng Xian, “Hmm.”

Lu Jingyan was a bit flattered, pondering that the professor was unusually idle tonight.

Lu Jingyan paused for two seconds, “May I ask if you are the real Sheng Xian?”

“…”

Looking at the message from Lu Jingyan, Sheng Xian paused for a few seconds before putting away his phone.

He had some work-related matters unfinished, still quite efficient tonight, finishing only around ten o’clock. He occasionally cleaned his digital recorder and just used it, so since it was early and he had time, he simply started clearing out useless recordings from the device.

He wore his earphones, listening to and deleting recordings one by one. He could tell from the start of many recordings whether to keep them, speeding up the process.

He wasn’t paying much attention to the time stamps of the recordings, just listened from one to the next, and then he heard her voice, “Brother, winter is coming, should we get together for warmth?”

Sheng Xian, “…”

He looked at his computer screen and realized there were several short recordings, each just a few seconds long.

Sheng Xian, “…”

After a moment of silence, Sheng Xian played the next recording.

“Brother, if you lack a girlfriend, press 1, if you lack a wife, press 2, if you lack a mother for your child, press 3.”

“Brother, if you were just a little more proactive, we wouldn’t only have stories, we would have children.”

“Brother, brother, what are you doing? Are you thinking of me? It doesn’t matter if you’re not, I’m thinking of you.”
