Lu Jingyan’s voice was actually not very loud when he said this, as the table behind them was too noisy, and his volume wasn’t very low either.
Just at the moment he spoke up, the table behind them happened to go silent.
His words suddenly stood out starkly in the area.

Sheng Xian slowly exhaled, ignored the circle of onlookers around him, tore off the menu stuck at the edge of the table, and walked toward the cashier.

Sheng Xian stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Lu Jingyan.

Suddenly, Sheng Xian lowered his head and pressed the menu he was holding against her mouth, “Quiet.”
Lu Jingyan’s words came to an abrupt halt.
His face was a bit close to hers, she could smell his scent, light and clean, giving off a summer vibe.
This was the first time he had gotten this close to her, and it wasn’t as if no man had ever been this close to her before. Some of those scumbags from before went much further than he was now, some so close they were almost touching her lips. In comparison, the distance between him and her right now really wasn’t anything to speak of, even farther than those who would lean in to talk at bars.
But for some reason, Lu Jingyan felt especially oppressed looking at Sheng Xian’s slightly approaching face.
She even felt a bit of indescribable nervousness.
In the presence of men, Lu Jingyan never felt intimidated, always holding the reins of control tightly in her hands. This was the first time she found things out of her control.
Lu Jingyan cleared her throat and slowly turned her head away, appearing calm and composed, “Alright, I won’t tease you anymore.”
Sheng Xian didn’t say a word, just looked at her with drooping eyes for a few seconds, then stood up straight to pay the bill.
Leaving the restaurant, Lu Jingyan fished out her car keys, “Let’s go, I’ll take you home first.”
“No need,” Sheng Xian’s home was very close, probably just a five-minute walk away, “I’ll take a walk.”
Lu Jingyan didn’t insist, smiled and waved her hand, “Then bye-bye.”
Sheng Xian made a sound of acknowledgment and watched her enter the nearby parking lot. He tugged the collar of his trench coat and walked towards his home.
On a winter night, the streets were nearly empty, with only the occasional car passing by.
Sheng Xian hadn’t walked far when he noticed a car following alongside him, creeping at a snail’s pace, matching his walking speed.
Sheng Xian glanced sideways.
A familiar car.
He had just ridden in it not long ago.
He stopped walking and turned towards the car.
The car also came to a stop, and the passenger window slowly descended, revealing Lu Jingyan’s beaming face bit by bit, “Big brother, why did you stop walking?”
Sheng Xian raised an eyebrow at her car, “What are you doing?”
Lu Jingyan made a sound of realization, understanding that he was questioning why she was driving so slowly, she tilted her head, her half-face almost pressing on the steering wheel, “What else can I be doing, accompanying big brother on a walk.”

As if fearing he would worry, she also sent him a selfie from her bedroom.
In the photo, she wore a pink hairband and had a sweet smile.
