Chapter 31 - 31 31 Eye Drops

?Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Eye Drops Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Eye Drops At the hotel room door, Sheng Xian rang the doorbell.

After half a minute, Chen Kai opened the door.

What greeted him was Lu Jingyan’s extremely displeased voice, “Chen Kai, I think your cousin’s eyes should be gouged out and fed to the dogs.”

Chen Kai: “…”

Sheng Xian: “…”

Lu Jingyan, not caring at all about the person who rang the doorbell, said, “Oh, sorry, I insulted the dogs.”

Chen Kai: “…”

Sheng Xian: “…”

Speaking softly to Sheng Xian standing outside the door, Chen Kai said, “Cousin, I think it’d be better for you to disappear right now.”

Sheng Xian raised her finger and waved it to the side, signaling him to clear the doorway.

Keeping hold of the door, Chen Kai whispered persuasively, “Bro, I’m not kidding you. When the young miss gets in a mood, no one can set her straight. If you go in now, you’re just asking for trouble.”

Sheng Xian looked impatient, “Move.”

“Bro—”
Sheng Xian glanced at Chen Kai.

Chen Kai silently let go of the door handle and moved aside a couple of steps.

Sheng Xian walked in with a white bag in hand.

Hearing footsteps, Lu Jingyan, sitting on the sofa with her back to the door, asked, “Chen Kai, is that the water I ordered? Bring me a bottle.”

Lu Jingyan, taking it for granted, reached her hand backward.

Sheng Xian scanned the room and picked up a bottle of water from a nearby table, twisted open the cap, then closed it again and handed it to Lu Jingyan.

Lu Jingyan, tilting her head back, drank half the bottle and said, “I’ve thought about it, and I misspoke earlier. How could Bo Mu be a vixen, she doesn’t deserve that. Your cousin, that dog of a guy, based purely on looks, still fits the term ‘vixen’.”

“Yan—”
Chen Kai wanted to remind Lu Jingyan that the so-called “dog” was standing right behind her.

However, as soon as he uttered one word, he received a chilly glare from his cousin.

Frightened, he quickly turned his intended words into a cough.

Lu Jingyan: “Forget it. Let him side with whomever he wants. After all, I am just a decoy.”

Chen Kai coughed loudly twice with his hand covering his mouth.

“Are you sick or something, coughing nonstop? If you’re not feeling well, go and see a doctor—”
Lu Jingyan turned her head to look back.

And then, her words came to an abrupt halt.

Sheng Xian, with her eyelids drooping, stared at the somewhat stiff-faced woman for two seconds before walking around the sofa to stand in front of her.

Lu Jingyan glared at Chen Kai and then turned to Sheng Xian.

He looked very calm, as if he wasn’t the one she had just mentioned about deceiving.

Lu Jingyan cleared her throat to break the stagnant air, “Why are you here?”

Sheng Xian didn’t say anything and placed the bag on a nearby table.

Curiosity piqued, Lu Jingyan asked, “What’s in that bag?”

Sheng Xian lifted his eyelids and glanced at her, “Eye drops.”

Chen Kai, standing by, burst into laughter.

Lu Jingyan looked confused, “?”

Three seconds later, Lu Jingyan blinked and recalled her earlier comment, “Isn’t it just crying? Give me a few bottles of eye drops, and I too could cry.”

“…”

She looked up and glared at Sheng Xian.

Sheng Xian had already entered the bathroom.

With no other option, she turned her glare to Chen Kai, “You think it’s funny?”

Chen Kai couldn’t stop laughing, “No, not funny at all.”

Lu Jingyan, with an expressionless face, watched Chen Kai still laughing, fell silent for two seconds, then waved her hand at him, “Come here.”

Chen Kai tried hard to suppress his laughter as he approached, “What’s up?”

Without a word, as soon as he came close, Lu Jingyan grabbed a throw pillow, stood on the sofa, and started pelting him on the head with it.

Chen Kai, worried she might accidentally fall off the sofa, dodged while reaching out to stop Lu Jingyan, “My bad, my bad, Yan Bao, I’m really sorry.”

Sheng Xian, after washing his hands, came out to find the two of them making a racket and stood frozen.

They clearly knew each other very well.

Their play fighting was incredibly fluid and natural.

Sheng Xian watched them for a short while before stepping forward, “Chen Kai.”

Lu Jingyan and Chen Kai stopped.

Chen Kai turned to Sheng Xian with an “Ah,” “What’s up?”

“Your aunt wants you to come over today without fail.”

The “aunt” Sheng Xian mentioned was his father’s current wife, legally his stepmother.

“Ah? Didn’t we just see each other last night at grandpa’s? Why does she want to meet again today?”

“Ask your aunt.”

“When did my aunt talk to you?”

“This morning.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me when I was with you for so long last night?”

“I forgot.”

Chen Kai’s aunt had lived in their house for a time during his childhood, and she accompanied him through much of his childhood.

He was very close to his aunt, and as he grew up, he heeded her advice.

Although he was puzzled how Sheng Xian, who almost never returned to his aunt and uncle’s home, suddenly started talking with his aunt, he still grabbed his jacket and left.

The door was closed by Chen Kai.

Only Sheng Xian and Lu Jingyan were left in the hotel room.

One stood on the sofa, the other at the bathroom door, neither initiating conversation with the other.

Ultimately, Sheng Xian was the one to break the deadlock, walking over to the sofa.

Lu Jingyan, watching him draw near and thinking about him handling Bo Mu’s contracts, probably Bo Mu’s lawyer, casually sat back on the sofa, “Did you come here because of Bo Mu?”

Sheng Xian said nothing.

Lu Jingyan, cushioning herself with the pillow she had used to thump Chen Kai, said, “If you’re here to talk about Bo Mu, you needn’t bother.”

Sheng Xian stopped by the sofa and looked up at the person perched high, “Sit down.”

Lu Jingyan slumped onto the sofa, leaning against the backrest, “I already beat the person up, so it’s just a matter of compensation, right?”

Sheng Xian ignored her comments and bent down to unpack the small bag he’d brought.

Lu Jingyan, tilting her head back, fiddled with the pillow, then rattled off a phone number, “Take down this number, and discuss any issues with the legal department of my company.”

Sheng Xian turned around, “Don’t move.”

Lu Jingyan hugged the pillow and looked at Sheng Xian.

Sheng Xian, holding several cotton swabs soaked in disinfectant, leaned in close to her and gently applied them to her neck.
