Chapter 58 - 58 58 Come Sit Beside Me
?Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Come Sit Beside Me Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Come Sit Beside Me Two people entered the barbecue restaurant and walked around until they finally found an empty table at the most secluded corner in the back.
The restaurant was extremely busy, and although there were many waiters, they simply couldn’t keep up with the demand.
Sheng Xian, worried that the elementary school students across might become impatient, went to the front desk to get a menu and placed a pen in front of Lu Jingyan, signaling her to mark whatever she wanted to eat.
Lu Jingyan, not feeling very hungry, casually selected a few items and then handed the menu back to Sheng Xian.
Worried it might not be enough, Sheng Xian added two more dishes with the pen and called over a waiter to place the order.
The barbecue restaurant was noisy, with a large table behind Lu Jingyan occupied by several burly men who were drinking and boasting loudly, their voices almost loud enough to lift the roof off the restaurant.
In such an overly noisy yet lively place, it was quite strenuous to hold a conversation.
Lu Jingyan spoke a few words to Sheng Xian, but each time their voices were drowned out by the people behind them, so she simply shut her mouth.
Fortunately, although the restaurant was crowded, the food was served quickly. Lu Jingyan eyed the table full of dishes and started using her chopsticks.
Sitting with their backs to Lu Jingyan were two people, one of whom was rather stout. As Lu Jingyan was battling with a shrimp, the stout person stood up to go to the restroom, and perhaps because he had drunk too much, he was quite rough and bumped into Lu Jingyan’s chair.
Lu Jingyan, with a shrimp in her mouth, turned her head to look.
The stout man saw her and his eyes clearly lit up, “Beauty, I’m sorry.”
Lu Jingyan didn’t show much reaction and turned back to continue nibbling on her skewer.
The stout man soon returned from the restroom, adjusting his belt as he walked.
As he passed by Lu Jingyan, he glanced down at her.
Sitting across from Lu Jingyan with an expressionless face, Sheng Xian lifted his eyelids and glanced at the stout man.
The stout man completely missed Sheng Xian’s look, his gaze very bold as he scanned Lu Jingyan from top to bottom.
In Beijing’s winter, the indoor heating made the temperature quite high.
After entering, Lu Jingyan had taken off her coat, leaving on only a form-fitting sweater.
Her back was beautiful, slender and upright, revealing a fair and elongated neck.
The stout man went back to his seat but kept turning his head back to look at Lu Jingyan.
Perhaps it was the influence of the alcohol, but his gaze became increasingly bold, filled with a man’s unmistakable drooling and blatant attitude.
Sheng Xian, usually calm, furrowed his brow slightly, feeling suddenly restless.
When the stout man turned his head for the third time, his arms crossed in front of his chest as he watched Lu Jingyan eating, Sheng Xian couldn’t help but tap the table, “Lu Jingyan.”
Lu Jingyan, her mouth full of food, looked up with a puzzled expression.
Sheng Xian, expressionless, said to her, “Come here.”
Lu Jingyan blinked, swallowed what was in her mouth, “What?”
Sheng Xian glanced at the empty seat next to him, “Sit by me.”
The meal was almost finished, why was he asking her to sit beside him now?
Lu Jingyan thought about it and, assuming Sheng Xian had something to say to her, put her skewer down on the table, took her phone, and walked around to Sheng Xian’s side.
Sheng Xian stretched out his hand, pulled out the chair next to him, and waited for Lu Jingyan to sit down, then he lifted his eyelids and looked ahead.
The stout gentleman was still turning his head to stare at Lu Jingyan.
As soon as Lu Jingyan sat down and grabbed a skewer of meat, about to ask Sheng Xian why he called her over, Sheng Xian suddenly stood up, walked around to her previous spot, and then sat down in her place.
Lu Jingyan was baffled, “…”
What was Professor Sheng doing?
Sheng Xian twisted his head back slightly, tugging the chair closer inward and subtly shielded Lu Jingyan completely.
Lu Jingyan, biting the meat, looked around and then, upon seeing the TV above her head, instantly understood.
Professor Sheng wanted to watch TV.
And he wanted to watch TV shopping ads.
As Lu Jingyan was almost finished eating, Sheng Xian waved over a waiter.
The table behind them was still going strong, their bragging growing louder and louder.
Lu Jingyan’s clothes and bag were on Sheng Xian’s side, and as she stood up to retrieve them, Sheng Xian had already picked them up for her.
At the entrance of the barbecue restaurant, the two of them put on their clothes and walked out one after the other.
Arriving at Lu Jingyan’s car, Sheng Xian asked for her car keys.
As Lu Jingyan got into the car, she suddenly remembered something she had forgotten to ask, and turned to him, “How did you know I was downstairs at your apartment?”
Sheng Xian handed her the parking ticket he had peeled off the windshield before getting in the car, “When I was coming home, I happened to see the traffic police sticking this ticket.”
Lu Jingyan silently turned her face back, “…”
Sheng Xian had already pressed the start button for the car, but upon hearing Lu Jingyan’s question, he turned the engine off again, “Go ahead.”
Lu Jingyan was stunned for a moment, then turned to him, “Say what?”
