Chapter 489: Spoils
Chapter 489: Spoils
After taking care of the two trainers, Metagross informed Julian of the location of the Secret Realm's exit—it had indeed seen it in the memories it extracted.
In other words, the other party hadn’t lied.
“Let’s gather up the loot first, and then head over to the Secret Realm's exit to confirm the exact location,” Pierce said.
Even though they already knew where the exit was, it was still necessary to check it out beforehand. If they waited until they actually needed to leave, something unexpected might happen.
After saying that, the five of them began looting the bodies.
As the saying goes—murder and robbery pay the best. Robbing and plundering is the fastest way to gather resources, especially without anyone around to interfere.
These two trainers were among the most outstanding young trainers in their homeland, both from prestigious families, and they carried plenty of valuable items.
Particularly important were the medicines used to treat Pokémon injuries. As time went on in the Secret Realm, their supply would eventually run out.
Even if one knew how to make medicine, it would only be the most basic kinds—which wouldn’t do anything for serious injuries.
That’s why any medicine brought in from the outside world was incredibly valuable.
Then there were the Pokémon. Both were mid-tier Elite trainers and carried a total of sixty Pokémon between them—though most of those had been captured after entering the Secret Realm.
The ones they had brought in from the outside totaled twenty-four Pokémon.
Among them were four mid-tier Elite Pokémon, eight early-tier Elites, and the rest were pseudo-Elite level.
“Any of you interested in any of these Pokémon?”
Pierce asked, after locking all their Poké Balls and retrieving the Rapidash and Quagsire that had been sent out earlier. He laid the twenty-four Poké balls on the ground and looked to Julian and the others.
The message was clear—if you liked any of them, you could take your pick.
Julian shook his head. “I don’t need any.”
He didn't want someone else’s Pokémon—not because he was some noble soul, but simply because he didn’t like any of them. If even one had caught his eye, he would’ve already taken it.
Asher and Rowan both shook their heads as well.
Their thoughts were similar to Julian’s. The types didn’t match, and none of the Pokémon had any standout features.
Only Ember took Imran’s Rapidash. Since both of them specialized in Fire types, and that Rapidash was clearly his ace.
“That Rapidash won’t be easy to tame,” Asher commented.
The lower a Pokémon’s level, the easier it is to tame—even if it’s taken from someone else. But the stronger they were, the harder they resisted.
And if it’s a mid-tier Elite Pokémon like Rapidash, and you’ve killed its trainer and still want it to follow you—that’s not just something anyone can do.
Any Pokémon with a shred of pride would never agree to that.
You might even get yourself killed if you’re not careful.
“I’ll hold onto the rest of the Pokémon for now. After we leave the Secret Realm, I’ll hand them over to the military—they’ll compensate you for them,” Pierce said.
Julian and the others had no objections, so Pierce put all the Poké Balls away.
Next came the treasures these two trainers had found in the Secret Realm. Honestly, their luck had been pretty impressive.
On the very first day, they found the Secret Realm's exit that led out.
And now, on just the second day, they’d already come across a piece of Living Wood and a piece of Flame Stone.
The Living Wood can increase the origin Grass-type energy and also acts as a rare healing ingredient. Many top-tier healing medicines required it as a component.
As for the Flame Stone, it’s one of the materials used to make Advanced-grade Fire-type Pokéblocks. But its greatest use was that a Pokémon could directly consume it to gain some fire resistance.
The only problem was, that it was a rock. And not many Pokémon could eat rocks.
“I’ll take this,” Julian said.
After all, his Aggron was basically a professional rock eater.
The other four had no objections. The Flame Stone wasn’t particularly useful for them.
Even Ember, who was a Fire-type trainer, didn’t really need it. Since Julian wanted it, she wasn’t going to fight over it.
And it was a good chance to repay him a bit—after all, Julian had saved her Charizard.
Of course, this stone wasn’t nearly enough to repay a life-saving debt—but at least it covered the interest.
After getting their consent, Julian released Aggron. The ground trembled as the towering behemoth appeared before them.
Standing at seven meters tall, this Totem Aggron made regular Aggrons look like dwarfs.
The four of them couldn’t help but narrow their eyes. Even though Aggron wasn’t releasing its aura, the terrifying power hidden deep within it was impossible to ignore.
It might not be on the same level as Metagross, but out in the field, it would be a nightmare for any trainer.
Among all of Julian’s Pokémon, Metagross ranked first, Dragonite second, and Aggron third in strength.
When Aggron breaks through and advances to the Elite level, Dragonite’s second-place spot might be in danger.
Julian handed the Flame Stone to Aggron.
Aggron thought it was time for a battle—but when it realized it was getting a treat, it broke into a big grin and chomped the stone down in one bite.
It didn’t feel like it was eating rock at all—more like biting into tofu.
The Flame Stone actually didn’t do much for Aggron, after all, the kind of things Julian usually fed it were way better than this.
Still, something was better than nothing. At least eating it wouldn’t do any harm.
After swallowing the Flame Stone in one bite, Aggron turned to look at Julian, as if asking, “Got any more?” It tasted pretty good, and now there was a warm feeling in its stomach, which was actually quite pleasant.
Just then, Kartana jumped out and pointed its left arm at the big guy: “Dare to fight me? I shall take your head off!”
Aggron lowered its head and looked at the little thing yelling in front of it. Honestly, if it hadn’t spoken up, Aggron might not have even noticed it.
Its entire body wasn’t even as long as one of Aggron’s claws.
“Why don’t you heal up first before you get yourself killed.”
Julian said expressionlessly as he returned Kartana to its Beast Ball.
Hot-blooded, Ch?niby?, with the attitude of a honey badger—this thing wanted to fight anything that moved. Once it recovered, Julian would let Dragonite and Aggron give it a proper lesson or two.
Aggron: "Oh, so that’s our new partner?"
Metagross: "Yeah, just not the brightest."
Aggron: "Really? I think it’s kinda fun. Adds energy to the team."
Metagross: "It wants to chop off your head. You call that energy?"
Aggron: "But it can’t, right?"
Fair point. If Kartana really tried to cut Aggron, it’d probably be the one getting wrecked. In terms of defense, Aggron even surpassed Metagross.
After all, Julian had always raised Aggron to be his strongest shield.
