Why two updates?
Because I feel like it.
I wish everyone a happy holiday and hope you enjoy your time off.

Rapidly passing through the final corridor of the residential area, the four entered the research sector.
The research sector is completely different from the residential sector.
Each room is at least four to five hundred square meters, some are even several thousand square meters.
Each room neatly stores different mechanical equipment.
Regardless of whether the instruments are large or small, they showed no signs of rust or aging under the protection of the Magic Array.
“Some of it is still usable.” Without the time to inspect carefully, Vivian just pushed open each room to have a quick look, immediately turning around to leave if nothing seemed amiss.
Along the way, they saw labs from the Schools of Potion, Transformation, Magic Energy, Crystal Energy, Arrays, Energy Conversion, and various other disciplines.
There were even quite a few Vivian herself could not identify, much to everyone’s astonishment.
“A Mage Tower led by a country is indeed wealthy.” Vivian exclaimed: “The equipment here is so complete, just like the highest Starshine Tower of the Magic Alchemy Guild.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to mass-produce Gold Rank or higher professionals, or else the many professional guilds wouldn’t be this powerful.”
“This place is really big.” Catherine marveled: “We’ve been walking for over half an hour and we still can’t see the end.
This is just one corridor.
I saw six like it back there.”
“In a high-level Mage Tower, research areas like this often take up four or five floors.
This one simply spreads four or five floors of space across one level.
We need to speed up, we’ve only gone through just over half of the research sector, we’re still far from the Core Area.
Let’s move faster.
Quick, quick, quick.”
“Hey, enough!” Catherine pouted, feigning annoyance: “Who do you think is carrying you and running at the same time?
Still shouting “quick, quick”.”
“Hehe, big sis, don’t be so upset.” Vivian giggled, spread out on Catherine’s back, following the map, “Turn left up ahead and walk for another ten minutes and the entrance to the experimental zone will appear.
Yes, the experimental zone also has many rooms, but they’re all in a row.
It only takes five minutes to pass through, and then the gates to the Core Area will be visible.”
The group stopped talking, focusing on moving forward.
After ten minutes had quickly passed, they came to a door about five meters wide at the end of the corridor.
“This should be the entrance to the experimental sector, let’s go in.” Vivian hopped down from Catherine’s back, stretching her limbs.
“Wait.” Pannis stopped Vivian who was eager to try, turned her gaze to the incoming path: “Footsteps, someone is running, sounds like it’s Gaston.”
“Him?” Catherine blinked, then understood, nodding knowingly: “Ah, you mentioned a trap.”
Pannis sighed, “Think about it carefully, do you really want to walk into the trap?
If you regret it now, it’s still not too late.
Clearly, they’re using Rachel as bait to lead us to somewhere of their choosing.
If we don’t fall into this trap, they’re powerless.”
Catherine replied seriously, “I have always said, I will not abandon someone who needs and deserves assistance.
This is my principle, so there is no need to hesitate.”
“Even if it brings you all into crisis?” Pannis looked at the three girls in turn: “All of you not just you.”
“Nellie’s adventure team will not fear any enemies.” Lina was casually holding newly found book, her face indifferent, she had somehow twisted a toothpick between her teeth looking defiantly at the corridor: “Especially the kind that skulks around and is too afraid to show their face.”
“Exactly, Nellie’s adventure team will not retreat because of any difficulty.
But, who is this this time, I haven’t seen her before.” Vivian looked at Lina curiously, “Seems like an interesting character.”
“Me?” Lina pointed to her own face: “‘Big Woman’, Martha.
Nice to meet you, let’s chat more in the future.”
“Wait, wait a minute.” From behind the corner, Gaston’s voice finally echoed: “Wait for me, wait.” Gaston was panting heavily, it was obvious that his exhaustion was due to chasing after the four women at top speed.
The four turned around, none of them responded.
They watched in silence as Gaston got closer and closer.
Gaston stopped when he was near them, the four’s glare startled him, but he still panted and stuttered, “Quick, help Rachel, she’s injured.”
“Tell us, what happened to her?” Catherine’s expression was very calm, her voice was soft.
“Just now, we were waiting in the living room for you guys when something suddenly activated, teleporting us away.” Gaston finally caught his breath and said, “We were teleported to an empty nearby room.
The teleportation array on this side was set up on the roof, and we fell down head first when we arrived.
She didn’t react in time and hit her head on the floor.
She’s been unconscious since then.
I reacted quicker, but also fell heavily.
I couldn’t wake her so I wanted to find you for help, but I just ended up going in circles.
Luckily, I heard you and followed your voices here.”
“I see,” Catherine nodded, “That is a reasonable explanation, so off we go.
Show us to her.”
“It’s right here.” Gaston had a joyous look on his face, as if he were genuinely worried about Rachel.
He anxiously walked ahead, “I’ll lead the way.” As he turned to lead, he failed to notice the peculiar smiles on the faces of the three girls behind him as they exchanged glances.
Gaston led them around several turns, towards the outermost line of rooms in the research area.
Catherine gave a chuckle, “Such a complex route, I’m impressed you found the way back directly, I thought you would get lost.”
“I have a somewhat good memory, haha.” Gaston gave an awkward laugh and opened the room in front of him, “Rachel is here.”
Guarding the room, they found, as Gaston had mentioned, a rather bare space of over a hundred square meters.
There was no furniture or decoration, not even a chair.
Rachel was alone in the middle of the room, motionless.
The three girls exchanged a glance and Catherine was the first to step cautiously into the room.
Pannis, who was last, smiled mysteriously at Gaston before following Lina into the room.
Gaston, showing a flicker in his eyes, quietly closed the door behind him.
Reaching Rachel, Catherine tensed all her muscles, maintaining constant vigilance as she slowly crouched down to make a rough examination.
She then nodded to Lina, “She’s unconscious, there are no visible injuries on her, not even on her head.”
“Let me take a look.” Lina swiftly switched places with her, while Catherine took up the duty of standing guard.
Lina crouched next to Rachel, flipped her eyelids and swiftly pressed a few spots on her body.
Raising her head, she announced, “It’s not an injury, it’s a magic effect.
Coma Art.”
“Secret Techniques, Magic Dispersion.” Vivian promptly chanted the incantation without Lina’s command.
A white light swept over Rachel.
Soon, they observed Rachel’s eyelid twitching and finally slowly opening.
“Be careful, there’s an attack.” Upon seeing the three girls, Rachel’s first words were to caution them.
Only then did she realize her situation and offered an apologetic smile, “I’m sorry for causing you more trouble.”
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it.” Catherine consoled Rachel while looking at Gaston, “But, it’s time to settle the score.”
At that moment Gaston, taking advantage of everyone’s attention on Rachel, quietly slid towards the wall opposite the entrance.
Pannis noticed his actions but chose to ignore him.
As everyone lifted their heads towards him, Gaston pushed heavily against the wall behind him.
Like a large door, it opened inwards, revealing the space behind.
An intense chill swept over the room as the wall opened, the adventure team members quickly pulled out fire-attribute crystals to combat the cold temperature.
Vivian thoughtfully passed a few to Rachel to prevent frostbite.
The slow opening of the wall not only exposed a cryogenic storage room covered in a thick layer of frost but also two persons inside.
One was wearing a white coat with a white mask, the short figure who had attacked them before.
The other was a blonde woman in a mage robe, who coldly and indifferently stared at them.
“Nicole?” Rachel instinctively took a few steps forward but finally stopped, biting her lip and lowering her head.
“My lord, my lord.” Gaston crawled a few steps towards the short figure, “I have brought them here as you commanded.
Please fulfill your promise and let me go.”
“Fool.” The dwarf waved his hand lightly.
Gaston, as if kicked hard, was thrown back three or four meters, “You nearly messed up my plans.
I asked you to activate the trap in the living area to make them cautious and delay their progress.
You?
You acted smart and nearly prevented anyone from opening that damned director’s office for me.
I gave you the teleportation array for what?
To separate them.
However, you brought the wrong person.
Fool, your incompetence has tested my patience.
You want to leave?
Okay, I’ll send you off.”
With that said, the dwarf pointed at Gaston.
Gaston, who was pleading loudly, suddenly clutched his clothes and gave out piercing screams.
As he screamed and rolled around on the ground, his exposed skin visibly decayed.
“Help me, help me.” Gaston rolled crazily around, rolling towards the members of the adventure team while calling out, “Save me, aren’t you a knight?
Don’t you like to help others?
Please save me.”
Catherine coldly watched Gaston and said softly, “I am a knight, but not an idiot.
I do enjoy helping others, but only if they are ‘humans’.
What you have done shows that you have lost your humanity.
Someone like you cannot find redemption, only judgment.
The knight I believe in would make the same choice when confronted with someone like you.”
“No, maybe they wouldn’t.” Pannis looked appreciatively, “I have heard a bit about her personality.
When faced with such a person, she would save him, then personally give the judgment.
However, you are not her.
You abide by her spirit, not her actions.
Your judgment is just as correct.
You’re a competent knight.”
“Thank you.” Catherine solemnly enacted a knight’s salute, accepting Pannis’ praise.
