From a bird’s eye view, one can see that the enormous City of Knowledge is composed of five circular zones, connected by wide main roads.
The western part is known as the Magic Paradise.
The Mage’s Guild, Alchemy Association, mechanical workshops, and other magic-related divisions and buildings are all located in the western region.
In the western part of the city, towering Mage Towers are dotted around, and magic goods of all schools can be found.
At one point, the concentration of mages here even surpassed that of the Mage Country of Butte, making it number one in the Yarran World.
The eastern part is known as the Sacred Land, where the majority of temples are located and where the density of priests, sacrificers, and nuns of holy occupations is the highest in the city.
The southern region, known as Adventurer’s Paradise, is the location of the Adventurer’s Guild headquarters.
It includes facilities dedicated to adventurers like testing sites, arenas, duel platforms, shooting ranges, training sites etc.
Meanwhile, all non-magic professional guilds have branches here to facilitate professionals who are adventurers in handling matters related to their profession.
In the central city, centered around three major auction houses, numerous commercial buildings make up the Central Business District.
As one of the transit cities connecting the east and west sides of the continent, it houses almost all kinds of goods in the world.
The comment “Only what you can’t imagine, nothing you can’t find here” is not an exaggeration.
The headquarters of Nellie’s Adventure team is located on Fox Street, which is on the periphery of the Central Business District.
The northern district is distinctly different from the other four areas, recognised as the world of art and academics.
It attracts artists and scholars from various fields, including painting, seal carving, sculpture, calligraphy, performance, singing, dancing, songwriting, composing, writing and so on.
Theatres, museums, and art galleries are ubiquitous, and every kind of art studio is available.
The entire city, the whole Neutral Land, even the whole world, all those who love art regard the northern district of the City of Knowledge as a sacred place.
Every day, beings from different places, countries, and races visit here in a pilgrimage-like state of mind.
At the same time, it is the favorite place for the human world’s aristocrats, regardless of whether they genuinely love art, pretend sophistication, or are simply here to hunt for beauty, they can all be satisfied here.
When Lina and Pannis stepped into the northern district, it was already past nine.
If it were any other part of the city, the streets should have been bustling with pedestrians by this time, but things are different in the northern district.
Perhaps due to the quirks of artists or the night-owl habits of scholars, the clock in the northern district seemed to run a bit late.
For the people of the northern district, the day really just started after eleven in the noon.
“Wait,” Pannis, who was walking down the quiet street, suddenly held Lina back, stopping right in front of a three-way intersection.
“Don’t go any further, something seems strange up there.”
“What’s wrong?” Lina looked at the empty street ahead in puzzlement.
“Nothing seems different.”
Pannis looked around.
“Both sides of the road have dozens of people running towards us, and by the sounds of it, most of them are carrying weapons.
Although we are in the city, we should still be careful.”
Lina frowned, holding her hammer in a defensive posture.
“According to what I know, bloodshed conflicts rarely happen in the City of Knowledge, especially in the northern district–it’s been years since the last one.
What’s happening today?
And where are the city guard patrols?
Something is definitely not right.”
As she was puzzled, the sound of chaotic footsteps echoed, and from both sides of the street, about forty to fifty people each emerged, running towards the junction of the three-way intersection, meeting exactly where Lina and Pannis had stopped.
The leaders of both sides appeared to be two young men under twenty, whose postures spoke of aristocratic manners indicating their noble births.
The followers behind both of the young men were also exquisitely dressed, clearly from wealthy families.
Approximately a hundred people, each with a similar Crossguard One-Handed Sword on their waist, advanced solemnly behind the two young men.
The confusion in Lina’s eyes became more pronounced as she murmured to Pannis, “What the hell is going on?
Look at their swords.”
“I see them.” Pannis nodded.
“They are ceremonial swords with no edges.
It seems the children of some aristocratic family are mimicking adults and initiating some sort of street duel.”
The two groups of people met at the intersection, completely ignoring Lina and Pannis who were standing to one side.
The two young nobles looked at each other, their gazes meeting in the air and sparking a fierce confrontation.
“I’m giving you a chance to apologize.” The blond youth on the left spoke arrogantly.
“Ha, what a joke.” The dark-haired youth on the right returned with the same arrogance.
“You’re the one who should be apologizing.”
“It seems you’re determined to compound your mistakes.” The blond youth looked regretfully at the dark-haired youth.
“I gave you a chance.”
“But you’re the one who’s wrong.” The dark-haired youth sighed.
“If you back down now, we could still be friends.”
“There’s nothing left to say.” The blond youth shook his head.
“We must duel.”
“Let’s duel.” The dark-haired youth waved his right hand, emphasizing his words.
“Let blood and swords judge the true justice between us.”
