Chapter 79 - 79 5 Twins_2
?79: Chapter 5: Twins_2 79: Chapter 5: Twins_2 “Very well.” The blond young man declared, his eyes resolute, “Is it going to be one on one or fifty-one on fifty-one?”
The black-haired young man glanced over his shoulder at the crowd behind him: “Since we’re all here, let’s do this together.”
The two men nodded at each other and took the lead to unsheathe their one-handed swords.
“You guys.” Lina’s voice sounded very weak: “Wait for a moment.”
“Do you wish to interfere with a sacred duel?
Woman.” The two nobles hadn’t pointed their swords at Lina, but their gaze focused on her.
“Ahaha, ‘sacred’ indeed.” Lina weakly chuckled: “Who the hell are you guys anyway, and why are you dueling here?”
The two young men shared an astonished look, “She doesn’t know who we are?” “Let’s enlighten her.” After a quick discussion, they each waved and their respective followers, as if rehearsed, rolled out a banner each.
“Ansha Guards”
“Michelle’s Support Group”
“We are the Ansha Guards (Michelle’s Support Group), the most loyal warriors whose sole purpose in life is to uphold the honor of Lady Ansha (Lady Michelle).”
“And him.” The black-haired young man pointed at the blond: “He dares to assert that Lady Michelle’s singing is inferior to Miss Ansha’s, and even says Lady Michelle owed her fame to Miss Ansha’s musical talent.
This blasphemy is unforgivable.
I must make him pay the price.”
“It’s the truth.” The blond young man pointed angrily at the black-haired young man: “Moreover, didn’t you say that Lady Ansha’s dancing is inferior to Miss Michelle?
Asserting that Lady Ansha’s success was only due to Miss Michelle’s endorsement?
You heretic, prepare to be judged.”
“You two…idiots.” Lina, since the moment the banners unfurled, had been twitching uncontrollably with incredulity.
Unable to hold back any longer, she swiftly kicked each of the young men, sending them flying into their respective follower crowds: “Can you be any more ridiculous?
All of you, get lost!”
“Bastard, how dare you kick me.” “Fool, do you know who I am?” The two young men shouted in anger simultaneously.
Lina gently tapped the palm of her left hand with her hammer, her eyes gleaming with the look of a lion preying on its meal: “I don’t know who you guys are, or care to know.
But, do you know who I am?”
“I don’t care who…” The black-haired young man was interrupted mid-sentence as one of his followers covered his mouth.
The crowd of over a hundred from both sides then all huddled together, with those closest to the young men whispering into their ears.
“Silver hair.”
“A hammer.”
“Spellbook.”
The young men broke into a cold sweat, bowing quickly: “It turns out that it’s you, Big Sister.
We were wrong.
We’re leaving now.”
“A bunch of idiots.
What an embarrassment.” Lina watched the retreat of the shamed group, then weariedly turned to Pannis to explain: “Michelle and Ansha are twelve-year-old twins.
Their father used to be an adventurer of the Silver rank.
But he was severely injured in an adventure three years ago.
At the time, our team was nearby.
I rushed to help him, but the injury was too severe, and he entrusted the twins to me before he died.
Afterwards, whenever I came back, I would often visit them.
I found out that they were talented musicians, and after nurturing their talents for a while, they have now become quite famous.”
As she spoke, Lina walked a bit further, deftly pushing open the gate of a courtyard.
“Miss Lina, you’re finally back.” Seeing Lina walking in, a middle-aged maid tending the garden rushed over: “I was so worried.
I didn’t know what to do if you didn’t come back.”
“What happened?
Is there not enough living expenses?” Lina asked with a puzzled expression.
“No, it’s the young ladies who are having a dispute.” The maid replied helplessly: “Both the young ladies have not spoken to each other in several days.”
Lina’s expression fell: “Why?”
“It’s all because of the newspapers.” The maid said angrily: “Both young ladies read them.
Each thinks it’s the other who has given the reporters false rumors, which led to this dispute, and then they started arguing.”
“I’ll handle it.” Lina nodded without showing any emotion, then entered the room in the courtyard.
As soon as she stepped in, she was in the living room.
Two twin girls, identical in appearance, were sitting separately on either side of the room, back to back.
One was holding a lute, the other a flute, both sulking and ignoring each other.
As Lina walked in and sat down, the two girls ran into her arms simultaneously, both of their identical faces showing the same look of resentment.
“Sister, Michelle is a bully.
She told the reporters that her dancing is better than mine and that all our achievements are due to her efforts.
Michelle is the worst.”
“That’s not true, Ansha is the one who’s lying.
She told reporters that her singing is better than mine, and that solely on the strength of her voice, we have come this far.
I hate Ansha the most.”
Lina sternly faced them, bent both girls over her knee, and spanked each five or six times.
Amidst their hurt expressions where they wanted to cry but dared not, she asked one of them, “Tell the truth, do you really think you sing better than Michelle?”
The girl named Ansha lowered her head, stuttering, “No.”
“Then do you really think that your twin sister would believe that your dancing is not as good as hers, and then say so to the reporters?”
Ansha quickly shook her lowered head, “My sister wouldn’t say that.”
“And you?” Lina turned her head to look sternly at Michelle, “Do you really think your sister would say that?”
Michelle also lowered her head: “Impossible.”
“Then why are you accusing each other like this?” Lina fumed: “Tell me, why?”
“I was jealous of Ansha.” Michelle had been silent for a long time before she finally spoke, “I think her singing is much better than mine.
So many people love her voice, so I was jealous and just wanted an excuse to quarrel with her.”
“Me too.” Ansha bit her lip, “I was also jealous of Michelle and that’s why I acted like this.
I’m sorry, sister.”
Lina gave a small sigh and hugged the two girls: “Silly children, you have no father or mother.
The only one you can rely on is each other.”
“But we have Sister Lina.” Noticing that Lina’s stern expression had softened, the two girls embraced her as they spoke.
“You cannot rely on me either.” Lina shook her head, “I am an adventurer.
Who knows, I may leave you forever one day.
That is the fate of adventurers.
You must remember, you are family, you are sisters, the closest people to each other, each other’s better half, each other’s only support.
So never be jealous of each other, never harm each other for foolish reasons.
Otherwise, one day, if your foolish jealousy causes irreversible damage, no matter how much you regret, no matter how much you cry, it will be too late.”
The twin girls nodded in understanding, glanced at each other and suddenly hugged each other tightly, rubbing cheek to cheek.
“I’m sorry sister, I was wrong, actually, I love you the most.”
“No, younger sister, it was my fault, I know that you are the one who treats me best in the world.”
Lina watched the reconciled sisters with relief, yet a tear unknowingly trickled down from the corner of her eye.
