Chapter 102: Chapter 102: There is No Sanatorium in Akman Town!

?

"Damn, we finally made it. This whole journey almost crippled my legs."

Returning from the route of a sausage-stuffing murderer, Qin Muye had been walking towards Akman Town for possibly ten hours from where the car broke down.

Qin Muye didn't bother to count the hours; all that mattered was that he arrived just as the sky started to dawn.

You see, even when his territory was in a horrible state, he had never walked such a long distance, especially at night.

The wilderness at night housed many terrifying things. According to Qin Muye's guess, they weren't animals but carried the same aura as the murderer, though fewer in numbers. This thing had been following him, leading him to think it might not be a murderer, just a plain pervert.

At first, it was bearable, but later, Qin Muye lost his patience. He pulled out a Crimson Invasion and prepared to activate it, wanting to impress his pursuer.

But he never got the chance, as it seemed the creatures sensed Qin Muye's impatience and fled with their tails between their legs.

"Arkham? That word doesn't sound quite right, should it be translated as Akman... perhaps." Qin Muye looked towards Akman Town, his expression growing more solemn.

"I hope there isn't a sanatorium or a mental asylum here. Well, even if there is, there better be a bat tight-suit freak; otherwise, I might have to reconsider the technological level of this world."

Akham, or rather, Akam.

He hadn't expected "Lord Era" to actually send him here. If there's no bat tight-suit freak at the Akam mental asylum, it proved this wasn't part of DC, which was more horrifying, indicating it could belong to an even scarier place, the top sci-fi world of Cthulhu.

Yeah, Cthulhu is sci-fi, not some messed-up fantasy.

However, he felt the likelihood was slim. If it were really a Cthulhu world, maybe a Nai Yazi would come to pick him up by now-or pick up his already mad self.

Qin Muye knew too much. Shifting worlds and knowing about Old Ones, Outer Gods, and such wouldn't be a problem, but in the sci-fi world of Cthulhu, it was akin to knowing the profound darkness in the universe, a real challenge to one's sanity.

He felt his mind couldn't possibly withstand such a terrifying response.

Therefore, he concluded that this Akman Town must just be... a case of bad taste. After all, "Lord Era" had always wanted to send him to an Akam asylum.

Now it sort of had in an alternative way.

Just as he entered, he saw two men and a woman rushing out of the town, and one who wasn't watching bumped into him.

"Excuse me, where is the church in the town? I'm the new priest, Andrew," Qin Muye said to the woman he bumped into, trying his best to exude the demeanor of a clergyman.

As to why the person he bumped into fell and not him, it was naturally because he was protected by a Magic Shield.

The sight of three young folks eloping early in the morning was indeed a little surprising; he wondered how the trio's love story developed.

The three of them brightened at the sight of Qin Muye, as if they had seen a lifesaver.

"Father Andrew, can you perform an exorcism?" the woman asked as she got up, hope discernible in her voice.

"Exorcism? I know a bit," Qin Muye nodded. Indeed, he was quite familiar, especially with summoning battle-ready personnel to assist him in combat.

"That's wonderful! We've encountered some trouble, Father Andrew. Would it be convenient for you to help us... Don't worry about the reward," another man added excitedly.

Qin Muye nodded: "Let's discuss the reward later. Could you tell me where the church is, and my car broke down halfway here, can someone from the town help tow it?"

"No problem, Father Andrew, we'll take care of it," the remaining man said while reassuringly patting his chest.

With these three leading the way, Qin Muye managed to avoid many detours.

On the way, Qin Muye also inquired about the town, and learned that Akman Town had neither a sanatorium nor a mental hospital. This allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief; he didn't have to worry about some bizarre person in a bat costume beating him up, nor did he need to be concerned about fish-headed or snake-man coming to him for prayer one day.

As for the three individuals, Qin Muye found out their identities; they were students at the town's private high school. The two boys were named Andy and Brant, and the girl was called Winnie.

Upon questioning them, their responses were evasive, and none dared to speak openly. This led Qin Muye to believe that whatever they had done was not something commendable, otherwise why would they need an exorcism?

Upon arriving at the church, although it appeared somewhat old and seemed to lack popularity, it was still being maintained by someone.

However, it evidently wasn't being looked after by a priest, as he had gleaned from the brief overview he remembered. There was a church, but no priest in charge, which was why he had been sent here.

Otherwise, the three wouldn't have been so surprised to see Qin Muye as a priest.

"Locked? Who has the key?" Qin Muye saw the gate was tightly locked and immediately

asked.

"It might be with the mayor; looks like Father Andrew, you'll need to go find the mayor first," Andy said, though he seemed somewhat hesitant.

From his demeanor, he seemed reluctant to meet the mayor, much like the town's delinquents might fear encountering enforcers.

"Tch, alright, you guys go sort out the car situation for me, and I'll go get the keys from the mayor." Qin Muye thought that breaking in wasn't a good idea, especially since it was his own door. If he were to enter, it had to be rightfully so, otherwise, even if originally justified, he'd end up in the wrong.

"Um... how about I take Father Andrew to see the mayor, and Andy, you and Winnie can go help Father Andrew with the car issues?" Brant, clearly aware of Andy's apprehension, followed Qin Muye since they were afraid Qin Muye might leave otherwise.

Qin Muye secretly rolled his eyes, alright then, they just didn't trust him.

"No problem, but Father Andrew, about the towing fee..." Andy reluctantly mentioned.

Qin Muye pulled out his wallet, which was bulging with bills, casually withdrew three notes: "Is this enough?"

Seeing this, Andy's eyes widened; he quickly accepted the money and said, "Enough, enough, wait for the good news, Father Andrew."

Seeing this, Brant had a bad feeling and quickly pulled Andy aside to quietly warn him not to get any improper ideas.

'Looks like this kid has other plans, tch.' Qin Muye glanced at his wallet and casually stuffed it back into his pocket.

The wallet was Andrew's alright, and some of the money in it was Andrew's; however, the rest had been scrounged up by Qin Muye from Sissel's tin house, mostly belonging to the victims. So if this kid harbored ill intentions, Qin Muye could understand, after all, who doesn't love money? But if he dared to try anything, he would leave him to seek forgiveness from God, as at that point, Qin Muye would take it upon himself to send him to meet God.

In modern society, what's the most important thing? Money, of course. Without money, life is difficult. Dare to touch his money, and Qin Muye would dare to take his life. However, it wasn't long before Brant had managed the situation, and Andy and Winnie left

with the money.

"Father Andrew, the mayor might not be at work at this time; how about we go have some breakfast first? The Sawmill Restaurant's grilled sausage is the most famous in the whole town," Brant invited Qin Muye for breakfast.

Hearing about the sausage, Qin Muye felt it best to decline; he worried that one bite might include a fingernail, although Sissel's deboning skills were high enough not to leave such an

obvious flaw.

"No need, I'm not hungry. If we really need to kill time, you can show me around Akman Town, let me get acquainted with the place quicker," Qin Muye outright refused and then

asked Brant to take him on a tour.

This mission had no time limit; as long as Qin Muye could resolve all of Akman Town's terrifying incidents, he would be considered to have completed the task.

The methods for completion were flexible; Qin Muye could use a Crimson Invasion to wipe the slate clean or take his time infiltrating as he was doing.

Sometimes, a slow resolution is better. After all, no matter how long he stayed here, it would only count as 24 hours when he returned, so why should he hurry?

Although the conditions here weren't as good as in his own territory, he had many gaps to fill.

It was an opportune moment to perfect his overall territorial planning and personal system.
