Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Nerfed Preacher vs. Hellish Xenomorph

?

Chains and iron hooks weaved through the aliens, and each movement elicited a horrific wail from the grotesque creatures, interrupting their actions.

It seemed that each attack was striking not the body but the soul itself.

The Evangelical Spirit Monsters had actually never seen Preachers before; they thought they would look like normal humans, but to their surprise, these Preachers shared their same hobby.

The difference was, they used tentacles, but the Preachers used chains and hooks.

However, despite the seeming ease of each attack, the acid-like blood from the aliens corroded the chains and hooks with every splash.

Even the Evangelical Spirit Monsters found this troublesome; the aliens themselves were such, and now merged with Hell Power, their acid blood naturally became even more formidable.

And with a ceaseless number of them pouring in, the Evangelical Spirit Monsters fully realized Qin Muye's requirements: just two things, to skive and to loaf on the job.

The aliens now had the overwhelming advantage; unless using wide-range lethal weapons for covering firepower, there was no advantage in sheer numbers.

More importantly, it seemed that these spiky-headed Preachers were not the original version, but rather mass-produced imitations.

Up to now, they still only relied on hooks and chains for attacks, lacking the expected abilities to manipulate elements and distort reality.

It was uncertain whether they inherited their undying property.

If they truly were original Preachers, albeit lackluster, that would only be against the Magic Cube, also known as Lemarchal's Puzzle; otherwise, they were god-like entities, virtually never failing

Qin Muye also thought of finding a way to get the Magic Cube to open the gateway to Hell and seek the King of Hell Leviathan; any other way would also do, as long as he could enter Hell.

Although there was an entrance to Hell beneath the church, Qin Muye had researched it and found that it seemed to be only a common entrance to Hell. Even if one entered, finding the King of Hell was possible, but not necessarily Leviathan.

It would be easier to use the Magic Cube, and he suspected that Hell wasn't one cohesive Different Plane but rather fragmented, which would mean that the Hell beneath the church and the Hell of the King of Hell leviathan, controlling the Hell Preachers, were not one and the same.

In other words, the different names such as Netherworld, Underworld, Hell, and so forth seemed to refer to the same function, but in reality, they were not the same place at all. Therefore, it was impossible for Qin Muye to go from the Hell beneath the church to the Hell of the King of Hell Leviathan.

The Hell outside, where Leviathan resided, might be opened only with the Magic Cube.

Qin Muye speculated that the Hell Church must have reached some sort of agreement with the King of Hell Leviathan for them to mass-produce these spiky-headed Preachers, and to have Preachers that could be commanded by humans.

"These weakling spiky-heads are going to lose," Qin Muye said as he watched the battle from afar.

Don't ask how he could see; there was something in the world known as binoculars, and if necessary, you could prepend 'military-grade' to that. What magic can do, technology can also achieve.

"I overestimated these spiky-headed Preachers, their physical fitness is about the same as the pumpkin-headed Evil Spirits, but their extraordinary abilities are far too lacking; they only use iron hooks and chains, and there are consumables, which I guess is a form of telekinesis."

At first, it was okay, but then the number of aliens began to increase, with all kinds of aliens present.

The aliens indeed prioritize capturing hosts with Hell Power, but they don't just capture hosts with Hell Power; animals and humans could also become hosts, eventually evolving into various unique forms.

Whether flying in the sky, running on the ground, or swimming in the water, as long as a Facehugger latches on and injects its embryo, just wait for the chest-burst.

It's important to note that these aliens are not natural creations but crafted by Engineers, and thus cannot be considered through conventional wisdom, like a Mage's animal-shaped people; you never know when a being with the look of an Elf will suddenly turn into a bloodied mass and then bite you.

Qin Muye still has much to learn about the demented levels of Mages, but the aliens created by Engineers are visibly discernible.

Now these spiky-headed Preachers are starting to suffer casualties; the Preachers are not immortal, but their Regeneration abilities and tolerance for pain are impressively robust.

?? ??

At least when the acidic blood of the aliens landed on the group of Preachers with nail-like heads, even as their faces corroded away revealing grinning skulls, they showed no other reaction.

The sight even made Qin Muye's teeth ache; these individuals were truly ruthless.

On the other hand, while the Evangelical Spirit Monsters were fearless in the face of death,

they did exhibit a sense of pain and were not as nonchalant when injured.

"Preachers, these insect-like demons are too powerful, we're planning to retreat," one of the Evangelical Spirit Monsters said, and as soon as it finished speaking, the remaining Evangelical Spirit Monsters understood and began to orderly fall back.

It was at this moment that the leading Preacher finally showed a change in expression, seemingly torn inside, but it was this momentary hesitation that gave the Evangelical Spirit Monsters the chance to flee, and the aliens surrounded them.

Instantly, their escape route was cut off, and Lawrence's face paled - he truly hadn't anticipated such misfortune befalling him.

In his mind, he cursed Qin Muye, wondering how all these red-robed cultists could be so selfish and fearful of death; wasn't this the time to fight desperately?

Seeing that these Preachers were about to fall right there, Lawrence also had to prepare for his

own escape.

He certainly didn't want to die alongside these people.

Truth be told, he hadn't expected the Hell Preachers to fall here; in his mind, the Preachers were supposed to be slaughtering the aliens.

The original Preachers really didn't have many issues, but this group clearly lacked real

ability.

They could handle ordinary horror monsters just fine, and even grappling with the Alien Queen wasn't a problem, but the aliens they faced now weren't normal, and naturally, they

were no match.

Furthermore, the numbers were overwhelming - how could one fight this?

Qin Muye didn't even want to fight them; instead, he thought of using the Crimson Invasion to wipe them out. To actually battle, he'd have to summon both Demon Blood and Evil Curse, and also bring along the Frenzy Blood Spirit Monster and the Evil Curse Spirit Monster. The sheer number of aliens covering the hillside made Qin Muye's scalp tingle.

There must be thousands of them; with their high attack, strong defense, and agility as a specialty, they had few obvious weaknesses and were a species adept at Bursting Soldiers - a fitting title as slaughter weapons.

"All Spirit Monsters, prepare yourselves. Once the Preachers are about to die, go in for the rescue," Qin Muye said, having wasted time he could've spent researching Hell Power to come here, not to watch a battle between aliens and Preachers, but to benefit from the situation.

The remaining Evangelical Spirit Monsters began to wriggle their bodies, quickly transforming into forms similar to Harpies with the upper bodies of Spirit Monsters and sturdy wings, and the lower parts consisting of thick, tough tentacles forming sharp talons. "Try to capture the leader alive - I need a live sample," Qin Muye instructed further, preferring a live capture when possible.

He also needed Mayor Lawrence, for the latter had knowledge of a ritual able to open the gates to Hell beneath the church.

Right now, it seemed this Hell's strength wasn't formidable, possibly around a Tier 3, which led Qin Muye to think he could take on the role of the King of Hell himself.

"Act now!" Tian Qi commanded, and thereafter, fifty Evangelical Spirit Monsters soared into the sky, flying over like hawks and falcons.

Tian Qi's reflexes and vision were much superior to Qin Muye's, better positioning him to

seize the moment.

The previously retreating Evangelical Spirit Monsters also returned to switch shifts and serve

as bodyguards. This had been planned in advance; otherwise, Qin Muye would have been left without protection.

Qin Muye took his personal safety very seriously - even the most valuable treasures weren't worth his life. After all, without life, everything is lost.

The Evangelical Spirit Monsters approached the mass of aliens, their lower talons constantly growing and instantly snatching a Hell Preacher, then dragging him away. Seeing this, the aliens began to counterattack, but the effort was in vain... Aliens can't fly.

If aliens were purely creatures of Hell Power with wings, it wouldn't be surprising for them to fly, but unfortunately, the aliens were somewhat rudimentary. Even if they parasitized birds or other avian species, they gained more agility, sharp talons, beaks, etc., but so far had not

developed the ability to fly.

However, after this time, they probably would develop such an ability. Of course, the weight of the body is crucial for flight, and if the aliens truly evolved into a flying kind, their defensive power would likely be substantially reduced - a significant drawback for creatures

of bone.
