Yarin's POV:

Azazel walked to the window so I could see the scenery outside.

Under the bright light of the street lamps, a layer of falling snow appeared even more crystal clear. Not far away, a few tents that were supposed to be temporary strongholds were silent. There were no hostages, warriors, or anyone I knew.

The car was still parked by the roadside. Clearly, they did not leave.

"What did you do?" The fear that I could ignore earlier now gradually filled my heart. "What did you do to them? Those hostages and werewolf warriors?"

"I didn't do anything, child. You have to ask yourself what you did to them."

He turned away from the window and walked out of the office.

At the door, I saw a familiar figure lying on the ground. It was Aunt Eve.

Her eyes were tightly shut, and her breathing was steady. Her body had no fatal injuries as if she was asleep.

It was so similar to Lily.

Behind her, more people fell to the ground without feeling anything. Among them were not only werewolves but also Lily of the Valley's subordinates.

"You lied to me." I heard my voice tremble. "This is a conspiracy by you or your followers. Demon, I won't fall for your sweet nothings."

"Is that so? Let me help you think. When did you hear the sound outside last or realize it was too quiet?"

Every word he said was luring me into a trap. Rationally, I knew I couldn't follow his words, but my brain couldn't help but follow his hints.

What time?

Lily had fainted, and it was unusually quiet outside.

It was-

When I killed Anthony...

When Anthony died in my furious attack, when I couldn't control my violent emotions and used his corpse to vent my anger, I realized that the sound outside had disappeared when I calmed down.

I initially thought it was because Azazel had constructed another dimension, but now it seemed there was another reason.

Azazel crouched down and gently turned Aunt Eve over so that I could see her breathing more clearly.

"She's not dead, child. Don't be afraid." He chuckled and said, "It was really good sleep, wasn't it? Even I want to wish them a beautiful dream."

I realized that there was a hidden meaning in his words. I frowned and asked, "What do you mean?"

But Azazel stopped answering me.

He returned to his office and sat on the table, quietly waiting for his believer to return.

Beside him was Lily. She frowned as if she had a nightmare.

"Such a beautiful girl, strong and brave. I completely understand why you fell in love with her. How could you not be moved when you met such a person at the beginning of love?"

Azazel praised and tucked a strand of hair behind Lily's face.

"Get your filthy hands off her, demon!" I roared.

'How old are you? How shameless!'

Azazel moved his hand away and sat further away from Lily. He even apologized to me nonchalantly. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done such a rude thing to a lady, even if I was using your body."

He choked me easily.

This damned old man!

"Anyway, let me tell you the answer." Azazel suddenly crossed his arms and sighed exaggeratedly as if bored. "It's blood. Did you notice? It was black and sticky. It was obvious that normal human blood would not be like that. Otherwise, vampires would have a strong taste.

"My power is hidden in their blood. When they lose their master's restraint, the pre-set program will automatically trigger. Using their blood as a medium, you become my vessel. As for the others, I wouldn't say I like to kill. I just make them fall asleep. Adding a dream realm to resolve the battle into an ethereal dream, how romantic is that?"

If a demon said that he didn't like killing, I would be stupid to believe it.

But now I had no other choice. I could only believe it since he said that people were only asleep. Compared to this, other endings were even more unacceptable.

"Remember what you said. They're just asleep."

"Of course, elders can't lie to children, or they will lead you astray." Azazel smiled happily. It seemed very novel for him to play the role of a relative.

"However," he changed the topic. "As you know, there are no good sceneries in hell, and the dreams I can construct are limited. If they do something in their dreams, alas, what a pity, I can't control it."

"You!"

I knew it! I knew it! How could this devil who made his believers take human lives for pleasure be so kind? How could he be so relaxed? There must be something a thousand times more terrible than he said in his dreams. Like what my mother experienced in the Rocky Mountains when she was young, dreams were traps that killed her.

My roar did not affect Azazel at all. He laughed happily, which made the believers at the door tremble slightly.

"Oh, you're here." He wiped away the tears from the corner of his eyes. "You're here to meet my grandson. After all, you'll have to deal with them in the future."
