Chapter 1066: About The Puzzle Boxes 2
He waved his hand, allowing the Deer do as he commanded and immediately, it rushed into the hole that it had been directed in to. One of the holes that did not have devils waiting within.
At first nothing happened, and the old Elf turned to Lenny, expecting an explanation, but Lenny immediately raised a hand, telling him to wait for it.
And then suddenly, the razor sharp teeth, appeared. This time around, lenny got to see them properly. They were not just razor sharp, but also jagged at the edges. He could also see traces of soul runes.
Evidently, these runes were not naturally formed, but gave the false appearance of such. Lenny could not help but look closely.
Indeed, there was a lot to learn in this place. As dangerous as it was, it did come with its own benefits, and Lenny could help but believe that he had stumbled upon something of great significance.
Of course, he could have just explained his entire theory of the place to the old Elf, But Lenny had instead, decided that it was appropriate that he showed the man, not because he had much time to spare, but because he also wante dto make observations.
Truly, after his time with the sisters of Eve, his view of the world had greatly changed. Even now, he was seeing things from a much different light than ever before.
At the moment, he was looking at the soul runes at the tip of the projecting razor blades and then he blurted out, "Is it me or did that thing soul rune just grow matter."
The old Elf wanted to figure out what he had just said but before he could look, the cube had slammed shut, destroying the soul rune deer he had weaved and let forth into the hole.
The old Elf coughed a bit.
"Are you okay?" Lenny asked. The old Elf nodded, "yes, Just a bit dusty is all it is."
Even though he said this, lenny had a peculiar look as he looked at him. It would seem like this man was willing to want to learn more from Lenny, but he himself was not willing to make the necessary sacrifice and exchange information.
of course, lenny could somewhat see through him, and calculated that his coughing might be due to baclash as a result of what had happened to the soul rune deer.
"Okay! I am sure after that demonstration, you get the entire gist of it." Lenny spoke up. The Elf nodded. "It is indeed much simpler than I had thought it was. In essence, the boxes that look safe are the dangerous ones, and the obviously dangerous ones are the easy way out."
Lenny nodded, "exactly."
"But that leaves another question." The Old Elf continued, "they are hundreds of boxes in this place, how do we know which one leads us to the exact place we want to be in?"
Lenny waved his hand as runes appeared, forming a holographic progression as he explained his findings.
"In this room, they are currently about a thousand boxes, and yet, even after picking fou random boxes from different sides, all through not the same in number, both still gave only two outcomes. This would mean that if we picked at random and only find two possibilities, then it is also very possible that it is only two possible outcomes. And if they be a third or maybe a forth, then the chances are not only very slim, but that would most likely mean that it is a..."
"Treasure!" The old elf completed Lenny’s statement. to which Lenny nodded, "Yes, that would be the most likely scenario, but this would also mean that we would have to solve through the hundreds of boxes in this place to unlock such a possibility."
The Old man massaged his beards gently as he thought deeply, "there is also another issue. What If? And I am only saying the possibility that what If this ratio changes from room to room. Also what if we look for this possible mystery third and fourth box and all we get in return is a bite on our asses? After all, the possibility remains fifty fifty, or at least with our current odds, that would be a one over two.
"Hmmm!!!" Lenny nodded, he too had thought about this. After all, danger and success were two sides of the same coin. In such an environment were probability was the greatest most unaccounted factor, it was safe to say that the same hand that choose to fed could also decide to take a chunky bite.
This was not something Lenny believed he wanted to face, especially after he saw a Soul rune that should not have the power to command matter in the After truth, actually do so.
Thinking thus far, it suddenly hit Lenny in the head. What if he had been looking at it wrongly this entire time? What If he was seeing this place as a physical location instead of one outside reality.
Thinking so far, he used his magic in his eyes and looked around, and surely, there was a change. Many of the boxes had changed significantly, in that he could now see through them.
This new development made Lenny chuckle a bit. By now, the Old Elf had become sensitive to Lenny’s chuckle. He raised a brow to Lenny, "It would seem like you have yet again, found something of significance."
Lenny nodded, "I forgot to mention the fact that we are not just in a Devil Dungeon, but in a devil dungeon between two worlds that have a strong affiliation with the Before Truth."
The Old Elf’s eyes brightened and he too did as Lenny had just done, diving into the before truth with his eyes.
"Truly, the biggest gain I made in this place is coming along with you." The old man chuckled. "In that case, lets get to it then."
Lenny nodded. And the two began solving the boxes. However, that was when it happened.
