Chapter 63 - 63 63 Panic
?Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Panic Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Panic Out of politeness and respect, Sheng Xian stood up and, along with his assistant, saw Auntie Sun out.
Perhaps feeling overly apologetic, Auntie Sun stopped when she reached the table next to Lu Jingyan.
Lu Jingyan, fearing he might be recognized by Auntie Sun, hastily raised a hand to cover his face and bowed his head, pretending to be a passerby engrossed in his phone.
Auntie Sun bowed apologetically to Sheng Xian and his assistant, “I’m really sorry for the inconvenience today.”
Sheng Xian’s assistant, a person with a very amiable disposition, quickly bowed in return, “It’s no problem at all, Auntie. Please go home and try to persuade her. You can contact me anytime.”
Auntie Sun bowed again: “Thank you so much.”
Sheng Xian’s assistant followed suit with another bow: “You’re being too polite, Auntie.”
“…”
As the two of them continued this back-and-forth, Lu Jingyan quietly lowered his head further.
After a while of formalities between Auntie Sun and Sheng Xian’s assistant, Auntie Sun finally led her daughter away.
Lu Jingyan breathed a sigh of relief internally. Just as he was about to lower his arm, Sheng Xian’s voice suddenly rang out close by, “You can go back first.”
The voice was very close to her.
So close, it almost seemed to come from right above her head.
Lu Jingyan’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively covered her face tighter.
Three seconds later, Lu Jingyan suddenly realized that her reaction was a bit silly.
She pondered for a moment but couldn’t figure out what was going on with her.
She didn’t want to be recognized by Auntie Sun to avoid her knowing that she had been involved with her daughter’s business. Now that Auntie Sun had left, why was she still hiding?
The address had been given to her by Sheng Xian, and she, who was set on winning him over, should be eager to meet whenever possible, creating opportunities if none were there.
Even if she had not come this time to flirt with him but was simply curious about what he looked like at work, there was no need for her to be dodging him like this.
Lu Jingyan took a moment to realize that she was panicking.
She wasn’t sure exactly what she was panicking about; it seemed like she feared that Sheng Xian would find out the reason for her visit, or perhaps she was afraid to delve into why she was curious about his work situation.
Lu Jingyan swallowed, sneaking a glance to the side through the arm covering her face.
Sheng Xian was standing right next to the sofa she was seated on, calling out to his assistant, “Oh right, here are my car keys.”
Assistant: “Ah? How will you leave later then?”
Sheng Xian: “Someone will give me a ride.”
Without further questions, the assistant gathered his things, said goodbye, and left first.
The area quieted down, and after approximately ten seconds, Lu Jingyan stealthily peeked again.
Sheng Xian was still standing beside her, head down, busy replying to messages on his phone.
Lu Jingyan dared not move. She fiddled with her phone screen, wondering whether to pretend she had an appointment with someone here so she could summon help.
Two minutes later, Sheng Xian still hadn’t finished replying to messages.
Lu Jingyan couldn’t take it anymore and opened WeChat. Hesitating between Chen Kai and Song Xian, she decided to choose Chen Kai, who was closer.
Lu Jingyan tapped on Chen Kai’s name, about to send a message, when Sheng Xian standing beside her suddenly spoke up, “Check, please.”
After saying this, he returned to the table behind her.
Lu Jingyan quickly put down her phone, intending to slip away to the restroom while Sheng Xian was occupied, planning to leave once Sheng Xian had gone.
But when she had finished gathering her belongings and was about to stand up with her phone, Sheng Xian, with his coat in hand, stood in the aisle again.
“…”
Lu Jingyan, holding back the swear words on the tip of her tongue, silently crouched back down in her seat and raised her arm again to cover her face.
Sheng Xian put on his coat, not heading to the cash register but again standing where he had been, waiting for the waiter to come over.
Lu Jingyan: “…”
After finishing other tasks, the waiter came over with the payment device: “Sir, that’ll be 278 yuan in total.”
Without a word, Sheng Xian bent down, took the bill from Lu Jingyan’s table, and handed it to the waiter.
The waiter hesitated: “Sir, are you paying together?”
Sheng Xian nodded slightly: “Mhm.”
Waiter: “Sir, the total is 326 yuan.”
Sheng Xian handed over his phone’s payment code.
After the waiter scanned the code and left, Sheng Xian stuffed the bill into his pocket, turned around, and looked down at the student who seemed desperate to hide her face under the table. After a moment of silence, noticing she wasn’t intending to raise her head, he took out his phone and snapped a photo.
Three seconds later, Lu Jingyan’s phone buzzed with a notification.
She didn’t look up, feeling for her phone from the tabletop to under the table, clicked into WeChat, and stared speechlessly at the photo taken by Sheng Xian.
As she wondered what to do, her phone buzzed again.
Sheng Xian sent the same photo, but with three added words: Little, ostrich, chick.
