Chapter 916 916: A Traitor Member

As soon as they saw Tom fast approaching them, the Green Team got ready to block and attack him. Three members shielded their treasure chests, protecting them from getting snatched by the opposing team.

"Catch him!" The team leader ordered her members. "But don't go far."

Two men chased after Tom, trying to catch and restrain him. Cassie grabbed this chance to leave her hiding spot, attacking the two men who were guarding the treasure chests.

Austin and Joshua followed suit, charging forward. The Green Team Leader and her team members were caught off guard as they didn't expect enemies to appear behind them.

Before they could make a move, Cassie had already hit a guy at his vital point. Hitting the back of his neck with minimal force was enough to knock him down.

Austin and Joshua attacked the other one simultaneously. The two men who were chasing after Tom halted as they noticed that their team leader was getting attacked and their treasure chests were being stolen from them.

Joshua started securing as many treasure chests as he could while Austin helped Cassie in restraining the members who fell to the ground.

"What is the meaning of this?!" the team leader of the Green Team questioned Cassie. She felt that Cassie and her team were cheating at this moment.

"This is called strategizing!" Cassie replied shamelessly, motioning Joshua and Austin to leave with the treasure chests.

They had to bring them out of the forest by passing through their assigned gate. Once they succeeded to get the treasure chests out of the forests, they would be considered their possessions. Whoever won this round would get a great advantage in the next round of activities.

"You shameless. I'm gonna beat you into a pulp!" the team leader declared, charging in Cassie's direction.

She threw quick punches aiming at Cassie's face and stomach. Cassie didn't dodge, but she blocked each punch by catching her opponent's fist. She didn't even budge when the woman almost punched her beautiful face. She just grabbed her hand, twisting it a little. Cassie didn't apply too much force, otherwise, the woman's hand would be fractured.

She winced in pain, tapping Cassie's shoulder for her to release her. "Ouch! Ouch! Let go!"

Cassie let go of her and warned her to behave if she didn't want her hand to get broken. The team leader obediently nodded her head, not fighting Cassie anymore. She was surprised to feel Cassie's tremendous strength.

After snatching the ten treasure chests from the Green Team, Cassie and Tom proceeded to join Clark who was still following the Blue Team. Austin and Joshua were ordered to leave the forests by bringing all their treasure chests. This would secure them by having fifteen treasure chests.

Now, they only had to gather the ten treasure chests from the Blue Team to secure their victory for this round. The Blue team was just a few meters away from their assigned gate. As of now, the Blue Team had the greatest number of Treasure chests in hands.

They were about to pass through the gate when Cassie jumped and blocked their way. "Oops, you are not allowed to pass through me without leaving the ten treasure chests!" Cassie warned them, waving her forefinger from left to right. She sounded like a pirate, taking other's people's wealth and possessions!

"Ahuh, are you trying to embarrass yourself in front of us? Though your team won yesterday, today is not your lucky day. The victory is ours!" The Blue team's leader sneered at her. She gave Cassie a mocking smile.

Cassie wasn't affected by her taunting words. She just shrugged her shoulders and invited them to try her. Lilith motioned her two members to attack Cassie. Tom and Clark also appeared from out of nowhere, backing Cassie up.

Lilith gave Tom a meaningful look as soon as their eyes met. Tom contemplated for a moment. He didn't know if he should follow his team leader or help Lilith's team to win this round. Cassie was not aware that there was a spy on her team. He already put the Red Team in trouble last night.

Cassie was fighting the two men while controlling her strength. On the other hand, Lilith tried to escape by bringing some of the treasure chests to the gate. She must not allow Cassie and her team to steal their treasure chest.

As Cassie dragged the fight too long, Lilith was able to bring five treasure chests to their assigned gate. But fifteen treasure chests were still not inside their safe boundary. They have to transfer them to their assigned gate.

Lilith finally sought help from Tom. He sneakily carried three chests, delivering them to the Blue Team's safe zone. Clark had witnessed what his fellow team member had done.

"Why did you do that?" Clark asked him with disbelief in his eyes. "You are a member of the Red Team, why are you helping the Blue Team? Are you courting death?"

Tom gave him a pleading look as he apologized, "I'm sorry, Bro. But I have to do this for the woman I love!"

"Please, help me out!" he added.

Clark furrowed his eyebrow. He didn't how he would respond to that. Tom had mentioned to him that he was in love with Lilith so he tried to choose her during the team assignment. However, he lost in the running competition so he was forced to become a member of Cassie's team.

"Don't apologize to me. The team leader will be the one dealing with you later. Good luck Buddy!" Clark just let him do what he wanted but he wouldn't help him betray Cassie.

After hearing that, Tom suddenly became anxious. He was afraid of Cassie. But it was too late for him. He had already betrayed her and he would like to stick with Lilith until the end. He ran towards the remaining treasure chests. Instead of stopping the blue team, he helped them out in transferring those treasure chests to the safe zone.

Meanwhile, Cassie was done playing around with the two men so she finally noticed that Clark and Tom hadn't secured any treasure chests yet. When she looked in their direction, she saw Tom helping out Lilith.

Cassie could only facepalm seeing her team member supporting the opposing team. 'I knew it. He is the traitor. I already suspected him that he was up to something.'

Cassie could only shake her head helplessly. She stopped moving, just watching Lilith, and the Blue team, most especially Tom, 'the traitor'.

Lilith and Tom subconsciously stopped moving as soon as they noticed Cassie's intense gaze. She didn't look mad but she raised her eyebrow, giving Tom a questioning gaze. Tom could only bite his lower lip, looked down, and scratched the back of his head.

He knew that he was in trouble. He thought Cassie would run into him and give him a hard punch but to his surprise, Cassie didn't do anything. She even motioned Clark to come with her. The latter obediently followed suit.

"Boss?" Clark asked Cassie anxiously upon reaching her spot. "Are you mad at me?"

Cassie just shook her head. "Let's go back now," Cassie mumbled, surprising everyone including Tom. Was she not planning to take away the remaining treasure chests?

"Are we retreating now, Boss? But we still have the chance to take away those chests," Clark pointed his finger at the other treasure chests Tom and others were holding.

"We've been already defeated even before the fight started," Cassie said meaningfully, looking at Tom.

Clark followed her gaze and he finally understood what she meant. A team member betrayed her so she considered it as a sign of defeat.

"Just let them win for now," Cassie added before turning around to leave. Clark also followed her, not looking back at Tom.

Tom, on the other hand, felt like his body was covered with cold sweat. He preferred to be punched and yelled at by Cassie, instead of being ignored like that. Cassie was more frightening once she was silent.

Tom didn't know how he would face the other members of the Red Team. He was even scared of getting near Cassie. What he should do now?

On the other side, Flint also watched this scene. It was truly unexpected that Cassie would suddenly retreat. What was she thinking? This was the first time he saw her becoming so quiet and serious about something.

'She seems to hate betrayal. But how come she didn't punch her 'traitor' member? If I were her, a kick in the balls is enough.' Flint thought to himself, sympathizing with her.

Since the Treasure Hunt Competition was finished, Flint decided to leave the Monitoring Room and proceeded to the training field. All teams would be gathered there for the announcement of scores for each team.

When the announcement was done, Flint immediately summoned Cassie to his quarters. He was supposed to give her punishment for breaking the rule last night.
