Chapter 922 922: Cassie's Alibi
Chapter 922 922: Cassie's Alibi
Eleven and Justine were taken aback when they heard that. They had been staying in the Fiery Eagles for two years now but they didn't know that their former guardian leader was there. And now, his name is Liam.
"What is he doing there? Is he part of the Fiery Eagles? Is he Zero?" Justine asked Cassie inquisitively. Among the members of the Fiery Eagles, Zero was the only person they didn't meet yet in person.
"No. He is not Zero. Uncle Liam is in a coma. He had been sleeping for more than two decades now." Cassie informed them.
"What? Does it mean… the person whom Ninth is always visiting in the VIP Ward is our former guardian leader?" Justine recalled that Flint was visiting a patient named Liam. According to Flint, that person was very important to his crush, Ella.
"Yes… Uncle Liam is there." Cassie confirmed it.
"What happened to our former guardian leader? Why is he in a coma?" Eleven asked Cassie, his voice filled with worry.
"Mheera's curse. Your Head Shaman cursed my mother but it was Uncle Liam who received the curse when he tried to save her."
Eleven and Justine didn't know what to say after hearing this. They thought their former guardian leader was living well in this world. They even tried searching for him in hope that Liam could help them save their world.
Liam was once the strongest guardian warrior in their realm. They thought that once he came back he could unite the guardian warriors and explained to them that he never betrayed the guardian warriors.
"We should bring him back to our realm!" Justine immediately suggested to them. "The healers might know something to break the curse and heal our former guardian leader!"
Justine came from the clan of healers. His Aunt Riyu was also a healer. It was so unfortunate that she died in the hands of her fellow guardian warriors.
"Miss Cassie, please come with us. Let's bring our former guardian leader to our realm and find a cure for him to wake up. The healers can help him!" Eleven said with certainty in his voice.
Cassie fell silent for a moment, thinking so hard. Eleven and Justine didn't look like they were trying to deceive her. What if they were telling the truth?
She knew how her Aunt Ella was heartbroken whenever she would see Liam in that state. Her mother, Zhen-Zhen, and her father, Tristan were roaming around the world just to find a cure for Liam.
They didn't think of coming back to the guardian warrior's world because they knew that guardian warriors would never help them as they still considered Zhen-Zhen their enemy.
But now, Eleven and Justine were here, telling Cassie that they could help Liam and heal him for him to regain his consciousness. This was the opportunity they were seeking.
Liam sacrificed himself to protect Tristan and Zhen-Zhen. Now it was their turn to do something for him.
"Fine. Let me think about this first." Cassie finally responded to them. She was already considering their offer.
Eleven and Justine felt hope when they heard those words from Cassie.
"We are running out of time, Miss Cassie. The opposing clan is hunting the members of our clans. The majority of us are healers so we are not into fighting. It's so hard to protect and defend our clan. We need your help before everyone gets annihilated."
Eleven and Justine were worried about their families and fellow clan members whom they left in the other realm. They had to leave for this mission.
"I understand. But I need time to think. Just give me two days to sort this out and I will give you my final decision."
"What are you talking about?"
Cassie, Justine, and Eleven were surprised when they heard Flint's stern cold voice. They didn't notice his presence. They turned around only to see Flint standing there with an angry expression on his face.
'Damn! He is here. How much did he hear?' Justine thought to himself as he glanced at Flint anxiously. Cassie also froze in her spot, wondering if Flint already discovered her true identity.
"Trainers are not supposed to talk to the applicant. Are you bribing them?" Flint said sharply, accusing Cassie.
"No, Ninth! Don't misunderstand. What we are talking about here is not related to the Fiery Eagles. It is something personal!" Justine immediately explained, afraid that Cassie would be in trouble because of them.
Flint didn't believe his words completely so he faced Cassie as he began to interrogate her.
"Explain. What is this all about?" Flint questioned her.
Cassie pursed her lips. She was not doing a bad thing but Flint was already assuming that she and the two men were having shady negotiations there for her to become a member of Fiery Eagles.
After a while, an idea flashed in her mind as she remembered Ella's suggestion.
"It is something personal. But since you are very curious to know. I will let you know why we are talking here."
Eleven and Justine felt alarmed when they heard that. They were aware that Cassie had a crush on Flint. There was a big possibility she would never lie to him. Was she going to reveal their identities to Flint?
Eleven and Justine looked at her meaningfully as if they were begging her to stay silent. But Cassie already spoke up.
"Eleven and Justine asked to meet me here as they confessed to me their feelings." Cassie declared to them making the three men speechless.
Justine: "..."
Eleven: "..."
Flint's eyebrows were drawn together as he pursed his lips in annoyance.
"That's why I told them I need time to think and decide whether I will accept their feelings or not. They just confessed to me and I was caught by surprise. I need time to clear my head." Cassie added.
Justine's jaw dropped while Eleven eyed Cassie in disbelief. They didn't see this coming. What kind of white lie and alibi was this? But they didn't say a word as it looked like Cassie made Flint believe it.
"TEN. ELEVEN. You. Shouldn't. Be. Doing.
This. Here!" Flint yelled at them.
